Job Description:

Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH72) Performs scheduled and unscheduled LUH72 aircraft maintenance, to include repairs, modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as; blue prints and manufactures manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of LUH72 aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft Sheetmetal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of complex electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, repair procedures, and part replacement.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory.
  • Familiarity with aircraft-specific tools and equipment.
  • Ability to log maintenance activities accurately in aircraft records and technical publications.
  • Competency in assessing non-complex electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using aircraft-specific tools like cable tensiometers.
  • Conducts various inspections, including preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight checks.
  • Launches and recovers aircraft when necessary.
  • Performs operational checks and maintains aircraft appearance.
  • Utilizes ground support equipment and hand tools effectively.
  • Handles aircraft movement on the ground.
  • Records maintenance actions and completes associated entries.
  • Flexible availability for different shifts and weekends.
  • Adheres to safety, cleanliness, and FOD prevention protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Working knowledge of aircraft safety and operation of portable firefighting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, blueprints, etc.
  • Capacity to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, push, pull, and perform other job duties for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights above 40 feet.
  • Valid A&P license preferred with five years of aviation maintenance experience, including two years on the assigned MDS within the past ten years.
  • Without A&P license, required five years of aviation maintenance experience, including five years rotary wing aircraft experience and two years on the assigned aircraft type within the past ten years.
  • Compliance with FAA requirements for mechanics working on certified aircraft.
  • Experience level necessary to perform inspections and repairs across various aircraft systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ownership of personal tools and toolbox, with tools labeled and shadowed with PID.
  • Flexibility to work day, swing, night, and/or weekend shifts as required or as assigned by the union.

Clearance Requirements:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Pay: $47.75 per hour base pay + $7.25 per hour health & wellness up to 80 hours per pay period
