Position Summary
The Lead A&P Structures Technician is responsible for both overseeing and performing the fabrication, repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft structural components to ensure safety, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance. This role involves hands-on work on structural repairs and modifications, as well as working with the supervisor in mentoring a team of mechanics , coordinating maintenance schedules, and ensuring all work adheres to FAA and company standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on airframes, including minor and major repairs, modifications, and fabrication of structural parts.
- Interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and repair drawings to determine repair methods and ensure compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Using hand and power tool to cut, drill, assemble, and install aircraft structural components, working with materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and composites.
- Inspecting for damage corrosion, and wear, and taking corrective action to restore structural integrity.
- Completing documentation and maintenance records to comply with regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
- High School/GED
- A&P or structures experience, or repairmans certificate may substitute for A&P
Experience:
- Master Technician role requiring expert skills in performing all standard and emerging tasks within the technical area assigned.
- Generally, at least 8 years of experience in area of responsibility or 5 years or more experience working on aircraft structures.
- Able to use tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
- MRO experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Aircraft materials and components: Understanding the properties and uses of metals, alloys, composites, and plastics used in aircraft structures.
- Structural design principles: Familiarity with aerodynamics, stress analysis, fatigue, and load requirements.
- Repair and fabrication methods: Knowledge of welding, riveting, cutting, and drilling techniques.
- Aircraft systems: Awareness of related systems like landing gear, fuel tanks, and flight controls.
- Regulations and Safety: Understanding FAA regulations, aviation safety codes, and industry standards.
- Blueprint and schematic reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints accurately.
- Precision measurement: Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to meet tight tolerances.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for fabrication and repair.
- Inspection and analysis: Ability to detect corrosion, fatigue, and structural damage using inspection tools and techniques.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving structural issues.
- Communication: Effective communication with team members and other departments to coordinate repairs and ensure safety.
- Attention to detail: High accuracy in following repair schemes, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Physical dexterity and stamina: Capability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks at heights.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new procedures and adapt to evolving technologies and regulations.
- Teamwork and independence: Can work both independently and collaboratively, depending on the task requirements.

- Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required
