The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and Assistant Director of Maintenance (ADOM), this role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership to ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest safety and quality standards in accordance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and manufacturer guidance.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, experienced A&P who leads by example, communicates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced environment focused on reliability and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support maintenance technicians during assigned shift to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Perform and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on company and customer aircraft.
- Coordinate with the DOM and ADOM to manage workflow, priorities, and shift handoffs.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with company and FAA requirements.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and training to junior mechanics and apprentices.
- Assist with parts coordination, tool control, and hangar organization.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the DOM and ADOM with projects related to the 145 Repair Station development, audits, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
- Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience (Part 135 or 145 preferred).
- Previous lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience on Learjet and Challenger series aircraft preferred.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations, maintenance tracking programs (CAMP, CASS), and documentation requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
