Job Description SummaryThis role is within the Composites Mechanical Analysis team in GE Aerospace Defense & Systems Engineering Division. The team is responsible for mechanical analysis and durability assessments of gas turbine engine components manufactured from ceramics matrix composites (CMC), and high temperature polymer matrix composites (PMC). Our experienced mechanical analysis team at GE Aerospace is growing! We are looking for Lead Engineers with 3-5 years of experience in finite element analysis.

The job involves stress analysis and durability assessments of engineering hardware with the most state-of-the-art material and manufacturing applications in the aerospace industry. Position requires US citizenship and ability to obtain US Government security clearance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a finite element analysis (FEA) as it applies to mechanical stress analysis
  • Contribute to the engineering design of some of the most advanced aerospace systems from idea through flight.
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve engineering problems.
  • Able to communicate results clearly to peers, leadership, and the customer.
     

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain US Government Security Clearance
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical stress analysis with a finite element software

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong oral communication and technical documentation skills
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in composites analysis using the Finite-Element-Analysis software ANSYS
  • Meshing experience in ANSYS, Hyperworks, Unigraphics Sim Center, or other applicable pre-processing software.
  • Knowledge of jet engine fundamentals

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
