What you can expect as a Lead Maintenance Inspector at West Star:
As a Lead Maintenance Inspector, you will manage the performance of operational quality control tasks and ensure adherence to the policies and procedures in the West Star Aviation, WSA Repair Station & Quality Control Manual, Customer Maintenance Programs, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS, including:
Review Technician Work: Assess technician assignments and sign-offs to verify adherence to established authorizations.
Conduct Spot Checks: Carry out front-line inspections of technician maintenance work to ensure compliance with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Repair Station Quality Control Manual (RSQCM), and customer General Maintenance Manuals (GMM). This includes:
- Verifying that all Repair Station Requirements (RQC) and Operator Requirements for Inspections (RII) are properly identified, inspected, and documented.
- Ensuring technicians assigned to engine runs and taxi operations are qualified.
- Confirming satisfactory completion of squawks (issues reported for repair).
- Validating operational checks.
- Conducting spot checks to verify technician proficiency.
- Communicating with technician support as necessary.
MEL Compliance: Ensure compliance with customer Minimum Equipment List (MEL) procedures related to maintenance. Follow MEL verification procedures as outlined in MQB 2018-02 Rev 1.
Final Walk-around and Release: Perform the final walk-around of the aircraft and release it, with special attention to areas affected during maintenance. Notify the customer via email when the aircraft is released from West Star Aviations custody.
Technical Data Usage: Use appropriate and up-to-date technical data, including Manufacturers Maintenance and Overhaul Manuals, Service Bulletins, and Part Specifications.
Adhere to Policies and Procedures: Follow the policies and procedures outlined in the WSA RSQCM.
Parts Inspection and Tagging: Ensure proper inspection, identification, and tagging of parts and components in real-time coordination with maintenance activities.
Customer Requests: Ensure that distributed customer requests are executed according to WSA standards. This includes:
- Verifying active involvement of the proper tech support.
- Ensuring tech support is included in Corridor corrective actions.
- Checking the status of projects in MX Net.
- Updating MX Net as necessary.
- Spot checking Ramp App usage.
Authorized Functions: Perform tasks authorized on the Repair Station Roster.
Quality Control: Reject any items or work that do not comply with the WSA Repair Station & Quality Control Manual, customer maintenance programs, and Federal Aviation Regulations. This includes:
- Rejecting incomplete or improperly completed work submitted for return-to-service.
- Holding the release of an aircraft if any unsatisfactory conditions are identified that could lead to quality issues.
- Rejecting corrective actions related to quality matters.
Effective Communication: Communicate effectively in English, whether in speaking, writing, or reading.
Additional Duties: Perform any other job-related tasks assigned by your supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education
A High school diploma or equivalent and an Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. Aircraft-specific factory training is preferred.
Your Experience
Extensive experience in maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations with part 43. Must be proficient in using the various types of inspection equipment and visual inspection aids appropriate for the article being inspected.
