Job Description:
This position is responsible for the scheduling, performance, and oversight of all aircraft inspection, maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, and components or accessories airworthiness and quality within the designated shop. Essential Responsibilities:
• Direct and perform install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
• Direct and perform troubleshooting, and repairing all airframe and powerplant mechanical systems, or post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on aircraft flights.
• Rig, function test, or troubleshoot the systems; determine when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system must be repaired or replaced; and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed.
• Document all work on the aircraft and ensure that the aircraft records are complete.
• Authorized to sign off on work performed by others, clear safety of flight conditions and return the aircraft to service.
• Lead subordinate Mechanics and Apprentices to accomplish aircraft maintenance and other related shop projects.
• Demonstrate proper work methods (such as tagging and checking out/in equipment and parts) and train Mechanics and Apprentices on these methods when necessary.
• Assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
• Assure that work performed by the Repair Station follows all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, technical data, and company policies.
• Maintain the appropriate certification(s) needed to be designated as Lead Mechanic.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• May perform as an instructor for training programs.
• May be delegated Shop Manager duties when the Shop Manager is absent.
• May be required to fly on aircraft, position depended.
• Run up and test under power the engine(s) and systems.
• Coordinate maintenance and logistics in coordination with other company aircraft at the same deployed location, when assigned as a crew chief.
• Duties may be delegated as appropriate; however, such delegation does not relieve the Lead Mechanic of overall responsibility.
• All additional functions of the mechanic position description when assigned as a crew chief. Reports to MCC.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
• Knowledge of the theory, operation, and integration of all mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and other operating systems of the assigned aircraft (or system for support shops) to troubleshoot malfunctions per flight crew reports of discrepancies, as well as from discrepancies discovered during inspections and operational checks.
• Knowledge of the work of associated trades such as sheet metal, painting, aircraft electrical, electronics, and aircraft engine work to determine when work should be assigned to specialized support shops, be able to calculate time and workspace required in order to coordinate the work of other mechanics, and determine when the work is properly done and signed off so that the aircraft, appliance, or system is ready for service and airworthy.
• Knowledge of reading and interpreting aircraft or mechanical blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and manuals.
• Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies.
• Understand and practice safety procedures to prevent damage to equipment or injury to personnel.
• Knowledge of the startup, operation, shutdown, and emergency procedures for the systems and/or the aircraft; symptoms of normal and abnormal operation; the inter-relationships between operating systems; and enforce safety procedures to prevent damage to equipment or injury to personnel.
• Skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.
• Ability to instruct others how to use specialized equipment and tools.
• Skill in reading and understanding data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges.
• Skill in interpreting and applying written technical guidelines.
• Skill in the use of computers to research technical data.
• Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner in team environment.

Required Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to the following would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities needed to qualify.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate.
• FAA Certified Airframe and/or Powerplant Mechanic (14CFR 65)
• Repairman Certificate (14CFR 65) as required
• Designated RII Inspector (NASI MSOP)
• Experience on aircraft over 12,500lbs (not applicable to all support shops)
• Experience as a crew chief (not applicable to support shops)
• Previous experience as a Licensed Mechanic in the aviation industry
• Commitment to the mission and vision of Neptune Aviation Services Inc.

Desired Qualifications:
• FAA Certified Inspector Authorization.
• 5+ years of combined aircraft (commercial, business, or military) experience, or related mechanical, industrial, automotive experience.
• Demonstrated Customer Service Experience specific to aviation.
• U.S. DOT Medical or ability to obtain DOT Medical (not applicable in all shops).
• Experience maintaining C23B or SD3-60 aircraft within the last 5 years.
• Documented experience and/or training in Pratt & Whitney (Canada) PT6A-65AR Engine
• 5+ years of experience on aircraft over 12,500lbs. (not applicable in all shops)
• 2+ seasons as a crew chief (not applicable in all shops)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• Work assignments require moderate to strenuous effort. Workers must climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces. Frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and carry items that weigh about 50 pounds. Heavier weights may be lifted with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers.
• Work is performed in hangar areas, outdoors, and in hazardous noise areas. Workers are exposed to extremes in heat, cold, and inclement weather. Work can occur in confined spaces and in awkward positions. Dirt, dust, grease, and aircraft fluids are common in the workplace.
• Extended periods of travel may be required throughout the year when our aircraft is deployed.
• Candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete King Air Training.

Additional Information: May be assigned as a Lead Mechanic to a specific support shop or specialty area (recip. shop, electrical / avionics, machine shop etc.).
