Job Summary:

We have an opportunity for a Machinist Tech at our Burlington, VT location. This machinist will machine parts for aircraft using different types of computers and mechanically controlled machines like lathes, OD, and grinders which are used in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machinist will be expected to set Lathes, ID and OD grinders, and surface grinders for the appropriate task
  • Perform various types of grinding such as turbine blade tips, shroud, and spacers
  • Perform other duties as required such as component disassembly, cleaning, and balancing of rotors following machining
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable or lower skill level as required to facilitate machining operations and maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Comply with environmental/safety regulations and program requirements to ensure safe working conditions and to preserve a healthy working environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent with 6+ years of experience OR an associate degree or (other 2 -year post high school training) with 4+ years in related trades training, such as manual machining and grinding (ID, OD, and surface grinding)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA A&P License
  • Ability to use a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and technical drawings
  • Ability to perform basic math functions in order to calculate required machining dimensions
  • Ability to obtain an FAA repairman’s certificate if non-A&P certified
  • Experience in the machinability of a wide variety of materials and speeds, feeds, and cutting tools so associated, and the various work holding methods and devices

Pratt & Whitney, Burlington, VT, is an FAA-regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. The candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as a pre-employment contingency and also subject to ongoing random testing as an employee per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
