Job Description
The Maintenance Controller provides clear and accurate information on aircraft maintenance status, action plans, and return-to-service estimates. This role communicates directly with flight crews to resolve operational discrepancies, coordinates maintenance activities, and ensures timely, compliant repairs. The position uses maintenance tracking computer systems to plan, schedule, and monitor all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in alignment with aircraft inspection programs and regulatory requirements. Remote work is available for candidates with prior maintenance control experience.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with flight crew members to obtain detailed information needed to diagnose and support aircraft repairs.
- Utilize computerized maintenance tracking systems to plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities and logistics.
- Update the Computerized Maintenance Tracking Program with current compliance data for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Maintain real-time fleet maintenance status in Flight Operations Software (FOS) to support operational decision-making.
- Ensure mechanical delays are managed safely and efficiently in accordance with the General Maintenance Manual.
- Coordinate with Flight Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing teams to expedite aircraft return to service.
- Track and control deferred maintenance items and ensure required parts and materials are ordered promptly.
- Authorize deferred maintenance items (DMI) in compliance with company manuals and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Complete and distribute maintenance forms and documentation according to General Maintenance Manual procedures.
- Monitor and track parts and equipment in transit to support aircraft on ground (AOG) situations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for maintenance performed away from the main base.
- Perform maintenance planning and track scheduled maintenance events to ensure timely completion.
- Obtain necessary approvals and complete Ferry Flight Authorization Forms accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on company aircraft to minimize downtime.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support safe and reliable operations.
Essential Skills
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
- Minimum of 2+ years of line maintenance experience.
- Experience with maintenance control functions or environments.
- Ability to use computerized maintenance tracking systems for planning and compliance.
- Familiarity with Flight Operations Software (FOS) or similar operational systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply General Maintenance Manual procedures and FARs.
- Strong communication skills for direct interaction with flight crews and internal departments.
- Ability to work a varying schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ERJ, CRJ, or Challenger aircraft preferred.
- Experience with CRJ, ERJ, Embraer, or Citation aircraft types is highly beneficial.
- Previous maintenance control experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple aircraft and maintenance events simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively under time pressure and in AOG situations.
- Attention to detail in documentation, tracking, and regulatory compliance.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
