This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are critical components of the position for Manager of Quality.

*The Title Manager of Quality is also synonymous with Manager of Quality Assurance (MQA), Manager of Quality Control (MQC), and Manager of Quality Assurance/Control (MQA/QC)

General:

This is a full-time position that will report to the Director of Quality; and interacts with the Company’s Flight Mechanics, Quality Inspectors, Director of Maintenance, and Vice President Maintenance and Engineering. The responsibilities include the day to day oversight and review of the Company’s various maintenance tasks and inspections to assure compliance with all FAR requirements and Company GMM requirements. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of all FAR aircraft maintenance requirements. Good communication skills are required, and the successful candidate must be able to exhibit the values and culture of the company while working with flight mechanics and flight crews in a fast paced/dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the quality performance of Continuing Analysis and Surveillance (CASS) program
  • Manages the monitoring and inspection activities of the Company’s Quality Representatives;
  • Reviews maintenance paperwork for correctness, completion and appropriate references to approved data
  • Has overall responsibility to ensure the proper review and compliance of all records relating to aircraft, engines, appliances and/or components
  • Has overall responsibility to consistently check for adherence of maintenance tasks and activity to the Company’s Maintenance Program, GMM requirements, and FARs
  • Reviews for correctness MEL/CDL and NEF deferrals and ensures proper compliance by Quality inspectors and flight mechanics
  • Makes recommendations to Director of Quality or Director of Maintenance on staffing levels and resources needed to meet productivity or other maintenance goals
  • Oversees the process of receiving, identifying, reviewing and determining applicability of any Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, All Operator Letters, etc. and ensures appropriately reviewed by a Quality Representative / Inspector as required and acted upon
  • Manages the classification of repairs and alterations as to major or minor and ensure appropriate forms are completed to document any major repair or alteration
  • Provides assistance, supervision, and direction to Quality Assurance Representatives / Inspectors, as well as maintenance personnel as required.
  • Ensures appropriate training for Quality Representatives / Inspectors so that appropriate inspections are completed, and the integrity of all required inspection items is achieved
  • Ensures maintenance contract vendor audits are conducted to ensure approved and reliable sources for maintenance, repair, overhaul, NDT, calibration of tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality Assurance and Control, Director of Maintenance, or Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering
Job Requirements:
  • Must hold a current Mechanic Certificate with an Airframe and Power Plant rating and have held these ratings for at least five years
  • Must have at least five (5) years of maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes (having 10 or more passenger seats) with an air carrier or repair station, one year of which must have been as a maintenance inspector
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining large aircraft of the same category and class as that of the company.
  • Previous exposure and/or experience with a Part 121 Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System or Reliability program is preferred
  • Familiarity with accessing online aircraft manuals
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Bids works schedule by seniority (days, swings, or midnight shifts, holidays)
  • Travel will be required
  • Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
