Job Summary:

Avfuel is Hiring someone to perform heavy truck maintenance and repair on the nation’s largest, most diversified commercial aviation refueler fleet. The primary responsibility of the Medium Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is to repair heavy truck chassis up-fitted with aircraft fuel delivery systems in accordance with manufacturer and industry guidelines. Assist in the shop maintenance and/or production teams as needed.  

Aviation experience not required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of heavy truck maintenance
• Engine tune up and repairs on Cummins, International and Isuzu engines (Engine knowledge not required but a plus)
• Hydraulic and air brakes, steering, exhausts and electrical wiring on International, Freightliner, and Isuzu chassis 
• Perform fuel pumping system repairs and maintenance
• Shop maintenance

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Having comprehensive set of mechanic’s tools, a plus
• Aptitude to learn how to interpret electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
• Valid driver’s license
• Self-starter
• Have the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members with a positive attitude.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent with (1) year of medium/ heavy duty truck mechanic, automotive mechanic, airport fuel equipment maintenance or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
• Mechanically inclined individuals are encouraged to apply, as this is a “Hands On” position that includes on the job training

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, squat, and climb ladders to perform duties, repairs and inspections
• Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds at times
• Wear personal protection equipment as required
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities

Work Environment:

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
• Must be able to work indoor and in outdoor conditions where extreme temperature ranges may be encountered
