BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or equivalent engineering discipline.
- Experience with mechanical/electromechanical design and analysis.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis.
- 2+ years of hands on project experience with complex mechanical systems, preferably as a lead.
- Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems.
- Experience with computer aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA) software.
- Familiarity with common manufacturing methods (machining, welding, hand and power tools, etc.).
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with common manufacturing methods (machining, welding, hand and power tools, etc.)
- Understanding of ceramic insulation and heritage ceramic thermal protection materials and systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing ceramic thermal protection systems and the opportunities to reduce cost and complexity.
- Understanding of state-of-the-art thermal protection systems and where development and research is heading in the future.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed on an occasional basis.
- Must be willing to travel to Starbase, TX and Cape Canaveral, FL on a regular basis.
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Mechanical Engineer/Level 1: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Mechanical Engineer/Level 2: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
