Mechanical engineers have a lot of freedom when it comes to their day-to-day job. They work with electrical, industrial and process engineers to design better products that solve thermal, shielding, cosmetic, human factor and manufacturability issues. We are looking for a full time mechanical engineer to design and develop basic mechanical designs and utilize CAD software to model basic parts in a team oriented environment. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for applying your knowledge of math, science and physics, strong spatial skills, and a pragmatic approach to partner with experienced engineers in taking product concepts to mass production. Other essential functions in this role include:
•Model basic parts and components including injection molded plastic, die cast aluminum and zinc, sheet metal, CNC machined and screw machine fabricated parts, compression molded rubber, extrusions, display components, flex circuits, touch panels, speaker enclosures, mounting systems, etc.
•Specify requirements for and source parts such as electrical connectors, speakers, microphones, LCD’s, backlights, keypads, switches, electric motors, screw machined parts, rotary controls, batteries and antennas
•Develop and design test plans for basic mechanical systems and conduct testing of products to verify compliance with design requirements
•Interface with Electrical Engineers, Industrial Designers, and toolmakers for discussion of basic designs.
•Maintain configuration control of documentation for products in production and interface with available drafting and document control resources
•Applies design standards and procedures to implement basic designs
Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering from a four year college or university OR an equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Other requirements include:
•Demonstrated knowledge of CAD software and ability to model basic parts
•Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Previous work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products and experience using SolidWorks CAD system is preferred.
