The UKs nine P-8A Poseidon aircraft enhance maritime security. The fleet is supported by over 200 Boeing employees at RAF Lossiemouth and more than 80 UK suppliers provide vital components for the global fleet.
Role:
The Mechanical Maintenance Support Specialist is the primary point of contact for all mechanical and structural defects identified during Base Maintenance Events. In this role you will be required to research and provide advice and direction to both internal BDUK staff and MOD, enabling the successful execution of maintenance activities to meet aircraft delivery.
Responsibilities:
Working with the Maintenance Co-ordinator to review P-8A MilCAMO SoWs.
Assisting the Maintenance Co-ordinator preparing for the maintenance input.
Ensuring all mechanical and structural defects are fully understood and prepared for.
Aiding Maintenance Control during the maintenance input execution phase with the review, assessment and scheduling of emergent defects.
Liaising with the P-8A MilCAMO and DT to propose repair solutions for damage beyond SRM.
Drafting comprehensive technical enquiries to proactively find solutions.
Providing direct support maintenance personnel executing defect repairs.
Liaison with internal business units (e.g. Quality Assurance, SM&P, Warehouse, GSE, Tool Stores etc.) and external suppliers (e.g. 71(IR) Squadron.) during the maintenance input execution phase.
Interfacing with programme and various functions to support capability growth within BDUK MRO.
Supporting international programmes with emergent repair requirements.
Acting as a focal for emergent tool purchase and loan requirements and liaising with the Procurement Agents to define requirements.
Raising of Unsatisfactory Feature Reports (F765) for errors identified with the ADS during maintenance inputs.
Supporting the P8A CAMO in deferring corrective or preventative maintenance.
Deputising for the Maintenance Controller and Maintenance Co-ordinator during periods of absences.
Required Competencies: Experience and Skills:
A significant amount of demonstrated military and/or commercial fixed wing experience and knowledge in aircraft maintenance procedures, practices.
Extensive experience working on structural repairs and/or composite repairs preferably in an aircraft maintenance environment.
Extensive and specialised knowledge of UK MOD military aircraft maintenance processes, policies, and practices.
Knowledge of the MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP) and associated Maintenance and Airworthiness Processes (MAM-P).
Extensive and specialised ability to analyse and interpret product data (e.g. ADS, Engineering drawings, CMMs & Part Lists). Previous experience in using UK Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals highly desirable.
