What you can expect as a Mobile Engine Repair Technician at West Star:

The Mobile Engine Repair Technician will report to the Mobile Engine Repair Manager and will be responsible for completing time-sensitive engine repairs in the field. This position requires the technician to display a professional demeanor and project this atmosphere to our customers while working in sometimes unfamiliar locations throughout our region. This challenging position is key to providing our customers with the same exceptional service they are accustomed to wherever their aircraft may be while working with minimal supervision.

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Efficiently inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, function tests, removes, reinstalls, and returns to service of aircraft engines and APUs using the proper tooling and test equipment in a safe, professional, and clean manner according to manufacturer’s specifications, FAA regulations, and WSA approved procedures. Performs as an RII Inspector.
  • Oversees, completes, and maintains accurate and timely engine and project documentation, including reviewing preliminary reports to ensure accuracy of forecasted and billed labor hours; reviewing work orders and invoices, etc. to ensure timely and accurate inventory allocation, appropriate sign-off language, as well as  accurate charges for labor and outside services are being  applied before billing.
  • Manages all aspects of assigned engine projects to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the projects. Accepts full ownership of assigned projects from pre-planning to delivery of the engine through planning, prioritizing, and communicating with customers, Company personnel, OEMs, and vendors, as necessary.   
  • Assists with managing and maintaining adequate and appropriate parts inventory certification, calibration of assigned tooling, working conditions, and cleanliness of support vehicles.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

 

 

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education:

A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

 

 

Your Experience :

  • 5+ years’ experience as an A&P mechanic providing maintenance on one or more of the following engines: PW500, PW300, PWJT15, PWPT6, TFE731, HTF, BR700, PT6A, CF34, Tay 611, APU.  

Your Initiative:   

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. This position requires someone who can perform repairs effectively and quickly in short notice, high-pressure situations

 

Your Sense of Responsibility:      

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. 

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. 

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Other particulars:

 

Physical Requirements                  

Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear.

Stand or sit for prolonged periods while performing repairs.

Lift 70 lbs.

Operate basic hand tools and ground equipment.

Work in confined spaces.

Working Conditions            

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.                       

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

 

Equipment Used

Apple and Microsoft products, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
