Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The NAMS Director of Maintenance will manage the service, repair, and overall maintenance of aircraft and aircraft engines to verify aircraft are safe for flight and provide oversight and direction to the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisors, Ground Service Equipment Supervisor, and Aircraft Maintenance Planner. The Director of Maintenance will assure compliance with inspection and maintenance standards outlined in the NAMS Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, Federal Regulations, Manufacturers, and Customer Maintenance Manuals.

DUTIES:

  • Provide oversight, guidance, and direction to Aircraft Maintenance Supervisors, Ground Services Equipment Supervisor, and Maintenance Planning personnel.
  • Provide qualified personnel to plan, supervise, perform, and approve for return to service the maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations performed under the repair station certificate and operations specifications.
  • Ensure the Repair Station has a sufficient number of employees with the training, knowledge, and experience in the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations authorized by the repair station certificate and operations specifications to ensure all work is performed in accordance with part 43.
  • Maintain shift schedules of assigned maintenance personnel adequate for production to include, but not limited to, vacation scheduling, overtime approval, attendance monitoring, and sick time usage.
  • Maintain total control of the aircraft assigned and serve as the focal point for all communications relative to aircraft and assigned projects.
  • Monitor all Repair Station and Customer maintenance paperwork including task cards, non-routines, work orders, aircraft logbooks, TRAX, and miscellaneous Company forms to ensure it is properly and accurately completed, audited, and forwarded as required.
  • Ensure non-routine and task cards items, in order of priority, requiring estimates from Supervisors & Leads are estimated and approved.
  • Monitor the repair stations system and establish effective corrective actions to address discrepancies within the system.
  • Coordinate with repair station departments, to ensure workflow continuity.
  • Oversee customer daily briefing of Aircraft Fleet Status to include all items which exceed or are approaching their estimates which may affect the release date for the aircraft, to include parts, engineering, and prolonged elapsed time service orders are updated and approved by the customer.
  • Develop maintenance plans in coordination with Customer and other departments.
  • Provide oversite on requisitions for stock and materials as required for upcoming maintenance and/or inspections.
  • In conjunction with Stores, manage proper handling of all parts while in repair process to include storage, control, segregation, and identification of all items or units removed from or awaiting installation on an aircraft.
  • In conjunction with Quality Control, ensure all equipment, tools, and materials are on site and under Repair Station control when work is being performed.
  • Manage GSE projects: plan projects (requirements, budget, schedule); secure resources to execute; oversee execution, monitoring progress against budget and schedule constraints; managing risk mitigation and opportunity capture.
  • Coordinating with Customer and Company Managers for replacement of capital equipment.
  • Oversees management of GSE parts expenditures and inventory control.
  • Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
  • Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilitys needs.
  • Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed.
  • Evaluate and appraise facility/equipment/tools required, while maintaining the repair station premises in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Continually monitoring safety program compliance.
  • Assist with running company AMT apprentice program in conjunction with Quality Control
  • Additional duties as assigned to assist in the management of programs

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess current Airman Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Bachelors Degree in Professional Aeronautics, Aviation Management, or Equivalent.
  • Eight years practical maintenance experience as evidenced by employment history, training documentation, and certification.
  • Has appropriate management experience as evidenced by employment history, training, and/or certifications to perform the position.
  • Four years documented supervisory experience.
  • Experienced with industry inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used for determining the airworthiness of aviation articles, aircraft, and returning them back to service.
  • Practical experience Interpreting Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other Manufacturer Maintenance documents and compliance instructions
  • Thoroughly familiar with applicable 14 CFR Federal Regulations pertinent to Part 145 Repair Stations, and FAA Webb Ops program for Repair Stations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office applications, and TRAX.
  • A moderate degree of reasoning, math skills, and language skills are required for this position. High School levels are sufficient for all areas.
  • Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.
  • Must have a valid Passport or obtain one within the first 6 Months of employment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, 5-year background check, 10-year criminal history check and security threat assessment.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with coworkers and customers.
  • This position has a high-level of interaction with staff, leadership, customer, regulators, etc.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work is performed in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Will also spend time in aircraft hangar, on aircraft ramp and at stations outside of Anchorage.
  • Work around both stationary and moving aircraft. May spend time in confined spaces.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions, wet or icy surfaces, etc.
  • Use of personal protective equipment will be required.

  • The work is classified as “light” with regards to the physical demands.
  • Lifting/carrying requirements: Heavy boxes weighing 50 pounds, light office supplies, stacks of paper, and computer print outs. Carts may be pushed loaded with supplies.
  • Climbing: Climbing may be required up and down low step ladders, stooping is necessary for low file drawers and/or to retrieve supplies from the floor or under desks, kneeling, and crouching may be required for filing.
  • Reaching: Reaching to the top of file cabinets or shelves is required.
  • Repetitive motions: The job requires sitting and repetitive motion with use of the keyboard, pages in books, computer print outs, documents to be filed, and copy machines.
  • Talking: Talking is required throughout the day, communication with customers and co-workers will be required.
  • Hearing: Good hearing is required for effective and safe communication with co-workers.
  • Vision: Good vision is required to perform all tasks.
