NTT Faculty (Aviation Technologies Program)

The School of Aviation in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for one Assistant Instructor (for individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree) or Assistant Lecturer (for individuals holding a Master’s degree) position. The effective date of appointment is August 16, 2024. This is a nine-month, term, non-tenure track appointment. This position will support the baccalaureate degree in Aviation Technologies developed to prepare Aviation technicians with advanced technical skills. Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in the FAA-approved Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant curriculum
• Maintaining class records as required by SIU Carbondale and FAA
• Participation in program/department support activities
• Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Other assignments as determined by School Director.
• To attend department meetings as required.
• To engage in other assignments as determined by the school director.

For Assistant Instructor:

• Earned Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings.

For Assistant Lecturer:

• Earned Master’s Degree
• At least one degree in an aviation-related discipline
• Minimum three years of full-time industry experience in aviation maintenance
• Possess a valid A&P certificate.
