Job Description SummaryThe Next Generation Products (NGP) organization is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and support of future military engine products. The NGP - Engineer will own the design, development, & qualification of advanced military product components. The engineer will be responsible for executing technical design tasks including analysis, manufacturing support, and test of assigned hardware in addition to program management of hardware cost, weight, & schedule deliverables. This position reports to an engineering manager in Evendale, OH with the opportunity to integrate with various internal & external engineering disciplines.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.

Desired Characteristics

  • Highly motivated, passionate, and exceptional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills.
  • Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS and 3D modelling software such as NX Unigraphics.
  • Experience with structural component design.
  • Holding an existing US Government Security Clearance

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
