Job Summary

An Electronic and PLC Maintenance Technician is a critical role responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems in the manufacturing environment. This position combines expertise in both electronic components and automation control systems to ensure the seamless operation of the facilities and production equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Exemplifying a safety-first mindset, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance to the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Electronic Component Maintenance: Maintain and repair electronic components, including sensors, actuators, transmitters, and circuit boards, ensuring they operate within specified tolerances.
  • PLC System Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on PLC systems to keep them in optimal working condition.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues in both electronic components and PLC systems, addressing hardware and software problems to minimize production interruptions.
  • Repairs: Repair or replace faulty electronic components and PLC modules, restoring functionality to the entire system.
  • PLC Programming: Update and modify PLC programming to adapt to changing production requirements, improve efficiency, and address safety concerns.
  • Calibration: Calibrate sensors, instruments, and other electronic devices integrated into the PLC system to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and updates, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of electronic and PLC components, ordering and restocking parts as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency repair situations to minimize downtime and ensure equipment and facility safety.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages, such as ladder logic, structured text, or Function Block Diagram (FBD).
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, including analog and digital circuits, sensors, and actuators.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, automation technologies, and industrial controls.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for both electronic and PLC systems.
  • Strong safety OSHA knowledge to safely perform preventive and corrective maintenance functions. 
  • Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, or automation-related fields is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification or certification in an Engineering discipline. 
  • Experience working with a Lean Operating Model / Production System
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company
  • Manufacturing and facilities equipment experience in the Aerospace industry
  • A passion for the Aerospace industry
Compensation Data

The hourly compensation range for this position is:

$33.15 - $49.73
