Position Profile

Serve as one of the primary champions of DHC’s quality-centric culture out in the bays and shops of the MRO/AMO. Pursue a highly active role in examining and verifying the quality of the workmanship of our technicians as well as the attendant documentation associated with our maintenance activities. Ensure that the operation conforms to the standards outline in our Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM) and the associated Maintenance Procedures (MP). View yourself as an educator in these policies and procedures and as the ‘first line of defense’ in launching change in how we operate to avoid quality escapes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Direct Accountabilities:

  • Provides Technical and Regulatory guidance to Aircraft Maintenance and AMO Inventory personnel to ensure compliance with the MPM and Canadian Aviation Regulations. Maintain knowledge of current aviation legislation as it applies to aircraft continuing airworthiness
  • Inspect new, repaired, or modified aircraft to identify damage or defects and to assess airworthiness and conformance to standards, using checklists, hand tools, and test instruments
  • Validate completed technical records package confirming all required checks, applicable Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins are complied with and documented have been performed prior to maintenance release. Help shape the Journey Log Entry
  • Investigates unintentional damage and non-compliance and regulatory or AMO policy non-conformance to launch root cause and corrective action
  • Apply experienced quality centric perspective in reading of engineering and customer drawings that require interpretation to assist AMO personnel in executing maintenance
  • Acts as a quality and/or technical representative to monitor maintenance services performed at other locations (i.e.: Third party facility)
  • Reject any work or parts that have not been properly maintained or altered in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s approved data, customer-approved data, and/or the policies and procedures of the AMO

Indirect Accountabilities:

  • Provide Insight to quality related issues and assists with investigation and reporting of defects
  • Communicate stop work conditions for escalation through Manager of Quality and AMO leadership
  • Conduct spot checks on aircraft task cards and technical records for accuracy of technical records within the Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) & support the technical records team to develop corrective actions
  • Provide the AMO with the framework to ensure best practices to maintain Aircraft Technical Records
  • Provide timely responses to task card description and process queries raised in the shops
  • Spot check maintenance documents for completeness & accuracy
  • Provide guidance, as required, to provide guidance on language required for the Maintenance Release Statement for incorporation into the Journey Log

Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance and/or manufacturing
  • Holder of a current Transport Canada M1 and M2 License
  • Holds or be eligible to hold LAS ACA-M
  • A minimum of 3 years in a role responsible for aircraft maintenance on transport category aircraft
  • A working knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
  • Transport Canada approved Type training course on one or more De Havilland Types
  • 2 years QA/QC inspection or related experience
  • Audit and Quality system experience
