Job Description

The Quality Inspector conducts detailed examinations and quality control inspections on aircraft auxiliary power unit (APU) systems and components at various stages of the maintenance process to ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and CAAC quality and reliability standards. This role focuses on inspecting mechanical, electronic, and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, verifying the quality of incoming materials, and accurately documenting inspection results using enterprise systems and quality management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality control inspections on aircraft APU systems and components at multiple stages of the maintenance and repair process to ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and CAAC standards.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with all applicable FAA/EASA regulatory requirements for a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) repair station.
  • Inspect new components and materials received by the MRO repair station to verify conformance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Perform visual inspections of soldered connections to identify defects, nonconformities, or potential reliability issues.
  • Carry out mechanical inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies to confirm proper assembly and functionality.
  • Prepare, complete, and maintain all required documentation to report acceptance or rejection of inspected and/or tested items.
  • Use an SAP-based ERP system to record inspection results, track components, and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Utilize an electronic quality management system (E-Pulse) for documentation, tracking, and management of quality activities.
  • Operate measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height/thread/depth/pin gauges, rulers, optical comparators, surface plates with accessories (V-blocks, angles, parallels, squares, clamps), weights and scales, microscopes, special inspection tools and fixtures, coordinate measuring machines, and profilometers to perform precise inspections.
  • Use electronic test equipment including curve tracers, video bridges, and multimeters to evaluate components and assemblies.
  • Follow established work instructions, technical drawings, and blueprints to ensure inspections align with engineering and quality requirements.
  • Support receiving inspection activities by verifying the quality and conformity of incoming parts and materials.
  • Maintain a high level of documentation accuracy and adherence to proper procedures to support certification and return-to-service requirements.
  • Comply with all internal quality control and quality assurance procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, throughout the inspection process.
  • Lift and handle components and equipment weighing 25 to 50 pounds several times per day while performing inspection duties.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in quality inspection within a maintenance/repair or manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or aviation.
  • At least 1+ years of experience using SAP-based ERP systems and quality management systems (QMS), preferred.
  • Proven experience in quality inspection in manufacturing or maintenance environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical work instructions and blueprints.
  • Hands-on experience with receiving inspection of components and materials.
  • Proficiency in visual inspection, including inspection of soldered connections.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in an aerospace or aviation maintenance, repair, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aircraft auxiliary power units (APUs) and their components is beneficial.
  • Experience working within an FAA-regulated repair station environment is an advantage.
  • Prior use of E-Pulse or similar electronic quality management systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and regulatory requirements consistently.
  • Interest in career development and ongoing technical training.

Work Environment

The role is based in clean and quiet production and repair station areas, including a dedicated FAA repair station on the production floor where APUs are received, repaired or overhauled, tested, and certified for return to service. The environment emphasizes a high level of documentation, adherence to proper procedures, and strict compliance with FAA regulations. The position follows a day-shift schedule of four days per week, typically 06:00 to 16:30, with some flexibility after training to adjust to schedules such as 05:00 to 15:30 or 07:00 to 17:30, depending on operational needs and mutual agreement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
