Job Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that manufactured parts and products meet all engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role interprets engineering blueprints and source control drawings, performs detailed inspections using precision measurement tools, conducts First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102, and documents results using an ERP system. The position supports continuous improvement by identifying nonconformances, collaborating with engineering to resolve issues, and recommending enhancements to quality and production standards.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering blueprints, source control drawings, and OEM documentation to verify part requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, and other gauges to determine part conformity.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) on all detail parts in accordance with AS9102 requirements and document results accurately.
  • Utilize Intuitive ERP software to process all inspection-related transactions and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Select parts and assemblies for testing at specified stages in the inspection process based on established procedures and criteria.
  • Inspect products for a variety of characteristics, including dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical properties, as applicable.
  • Record test and inspection data clearly and accurately, applying statistical quality control procedures where required.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other technical support functions to resolve nonconforming items and determine appropriate disposition.
  • Evaluate inspection and test data to validate compliance with standards or to identify deviations from specifications.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports that document inspection results, nonconformances, and any deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to help achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
  • Package inspected parts appropriately and label them accurately prior to delivery to inventory.
  • Perform visual inspections and final inspections to ensure products meet quality, safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to production and medical device components, as applicable.
  • Prioritize inspection tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet required deadlines in a production environment.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to interpret engineering blueprints and source control drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience performing First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102.
  • Proficiency using precision inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and microscopes, to obtain accurate measurements.
  • Strong experience in inspection, quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection in a production environment.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and final inspections to verify product quality.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, including experience processing inspection transactions.
  • Ability to set priorities, multitask effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong teamwork skills combined with a high degree of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of alloys and material certifications relevant to product acceptance.
  • Ability to record and analyze test data using basic statistical quality control procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting components in a medical device or similarly regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with OEM part verification requirements and documentation.
  • Experience using Intuitive ERP software or similar systems for quality and production transactions.
  • Ability to evaluate data and write clear reports that support quality decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Comfort recommending modifications to quality or production standards to optimize product quality.
  • General understanding of mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics that may impact product performance.

Work Environment

This role is based in an indoor production and inspection facility. You will work around manufacturing and quality operations, using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, and other inspection equipment on a daily basis. The position involves frequent use of computers, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office applications to document inspections and manage data. Work typically follows standard production and office hours, with expectations to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines in a structured, process-driven environment. Appropriate attire suitable for a production and inspection setting is required, with adherence to all site-specific safety and quality practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $56.00/hr.
