Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections to support production activities. This role approves incoming materials and parts by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting or returning nonconforming materials to maintain high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first article inspections on new or revised parts to verify that they meet all specified requirements before release to production.
  • Conduct in-process inspections during manufacturing to ensure parts and assemblies continue to meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Carry out receiving inspections on incoming materials and components to confirm they comply with purchase order requirements and documented specifications.
  • Complete final inspections on finished parts and assemblies prior to shipment or release to ensure full conformity to customer and internal requirements.
  • Approve incoming materials and parts by confirming specifications through visual and dimensional measurement tests.
  • Reject and document nonconforming materials, coordinating the return or appropriate disposition of unacceptable items.
  • Use calipers and other precision measurement tools to perform accurate dimensional inspections.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications to determine inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspection to verify critical dimensions and features.
  • Record inspection results clearly and accurately using computer systems and standard forms.
  • Communicate inspection findings effectively with production, engineering, and other departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain an organized work area and follow established quality assurance procedures and work instructions.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience performing assembly inspection in support of production activities.
  • Hands-on experience with quality inspection in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in aviation or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency using calipers and other basic precision measurement tools for dimensional inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and geometric tolerances.
  • Strong quality assurance mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to document and report inspection results.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with departments across the organization.
  • Ability to pass a yearly inspector vision examination.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with aviation-related parts or assemblies is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay self-motivated and well organized in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and communicate quality issues promptly.
  • Comfort working with documented procedures, standards, and customer specifications.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime based on production needs. The role is based in a production and inspection environment where you will regularly handle parts, use calipers and other measurement tools, and work at inspection stations with computer access. You will collaborate closely with production, engineering, and other departments in a structured setting that follows defined quality procedures and standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
