Job Description The BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Facilities & Plant Operations teams support the sectors 35 properties representing over 2.2 million SF of real estate in Colorado. This established team of over 100 Facilities professionals is committed to maintenance, service, support, continuous improvement, and creating facilities which enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, more informed and productive world.
The Facilities Engineering team provides facilities designs and engineering guidance across BAE Systems SMS campuses in Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder. We are seeking a candidate to be a mechanical engineering technical expert for the Facilities organization. In this role, the successful candidate will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, overseeing construction, and maintenance of building systems and facilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Be the technical expert in the mechanical discipline and support project efforts.
- Take lead engineering role on projects, with responsibilities for multiple disciplines.
- Provide engineering guidance to consulting engineers, in-house project managers, and maintenance personnel.
- Manage outside design resources needed to execute project designs and studies.
- Complete facilities mechanical design tasks.
- Develop and maintain standards for design and construction.
- Develop engineering strategies for systems and components across the enterprise.
- Work with maintenance, engineering, consultants, and contractors to communicate and implement engineering strategies.
- Review new designs for effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence to codes and standards.
- Monitor and assess impact of regulatory changes related to building and systems design.
- Assist maintenance and internal customers with Facilities issues or concerns.
- Work with maintenance to enhance building system functionality.
- Mentor and guide less experienced personnel.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
