Job Description

This role leads hands-on maintenance and inspection work on helicopters while coordinating a team on the shop floor. You will perform and oversee maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Bell and Airbus helicopters, manage project timelines and documentation, and ensure all work meets quality and regulatory standards. As a floor lead, you guide workforce allocation, maintain clear communication across teams, and help keep the hangar organized, safe, and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on helicopters, with a focus on Bell and Airbus aircraft.
  • Maintain all project paperwork in accordance with the company’s quality control manual and procedures.
  • Document maintenance and inspection activities in a computer-based maintenance management system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication with employees involved in each project as work progresses.
  • Monitor and maintain article (aircraft or component) progress in line with workforce and project needs.
  • Ensure all required documents for each article are obtained, current, and properly maintained.
  • Confirm that all required parts are ordered, received, inspected, and available for installation.
  • Verify that all discrepancies and open projects on each article are fully resolved and documented before completion.
  • Maintain an up-to-date status of each article for review by leadership, including progress, issues, and completion timelines.
  • Develop and maintain realistic timelines for article completion and adjust plans as needed to meet schedule commitments.
  • Inform leadership promptly of any changes to article progress, schedule impacts, or resource needs.
  • Control and coordinate the workforce assigned to each article, including task assignments and workload balancing.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness and organization in the area surrounding each article, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Confirm that all tags and identification labels are properly completed and attached to their respective parts.
  • Consistently produce high-quality work and set a strong example for workmanship, safety, and professionalism.
  • Act as a team player with a positive, company-oriented attitude, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Provide training and guidance as required for personnel assigned to each article, supporting skill development and adherence to procedures.
  • Monitor workflow on each article, identify bottlenecks, and help implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Use personal tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good working condition while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes and shop practices by sharing feedback and best practices with leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing maintenance and inspections on aircraft, including required helicopter experience.
  • Hands-on experience performing maintenance and inspections specifically on helicopters.
  • Ability to work on Bell helicopters and Airbus helicopters.
  • Proficiency in documenting maintenance and inspections in a computer-based maintenance management system.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate floor-level maintenance activities and manage workforce assignments.
  • Capability to work flexible hours, including additional time when needed to meet project timelines.
  • Ownership and use of personal tools suitable for helicopter maintenance work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce high-quality work.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with technicians, leadership, and other team members.
  • Ability to maintain accurate project paperwork in alignment with quality control requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area around aircraft.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and commitment to company goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred but not required.
  • Experience with aircraft inspections, including airframe and engine components.
  • Experience in helicopter repair, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Familiarity with installing specialized kits, components, and avionics packages for air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate configurations.
  • Experience working in a hangar environment with multiple active projects.
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training and mentoring for less experienced technicians.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Comfort working in a structured environment with defined quality and safety procedures.

Work Environment

You will work in a large hangar environment alongside a team of approximately 45 employees. The facility focuses on repairing and upgrading helicopters, including installing full air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate kits, components, and avionics packages. The work involves hands-on maintenance, inspections, and modifications on Bell and Airbus helicopters, using a computer maintenance management system for documentation. The environment is active and project-driven, with multiple aircraft in various stages of maintenance and upgrade. Shop cleanliness and organization are a priority, and technicians are expected to maintain a professional appearance appropriate for a hangar and maintenance setting while working safely around aircraft, tools, and equipment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr.
