Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, Turbine Center Frame (TCF) - LEAP Engine Program

Role Summary/Purpose:

Ready to take the LEAP to GE Aerospace? Are you an experienced mechanical design engineer ready to work on the fastest growing engine in aviation history? The LEAP engine is a culmination of cutting-edge technology, world-class reliability and unparalleled performance, and is the engine of choice to power the Airbus A320neo, the Boeing 737 MAX, and the COMAC C919 jet airliners.

Why is this technology the engine of choice? LEAPs 15 reduction in fuel burn (over prior generation of narrowbody applications) is moving the needle on sustainability today and proving out the next generation of sustainable technologies like ceramic composites, advanced turbine cooling, and additive manufacturing.

Our LEAP engine incorporates some of GEs latest technological innovations which are challenging our engineers to test the limits of what is possible and define non-traditional design solutions that keep GE Aerospace at the forefront of innovation. 

Bring your talent to the team in Cincinnati, Ohio, where you will be part of the LEAP Engineering Design organization. You will help us leverage operational judgement, technical expertise and leadership skills on turbine machinery design and product improvement activities that ultimately power our customers, lift people up and bring them home safely.

What are the responsibilities? The Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Executes, provides guidance, and collaborates with GE Technical Experts on the design, analysis, and evaluation of design projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and LEAP product / program requirements
  • Documents, prepares and presents technical data and results in technical program reviews and internal and external customers
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work as well as mentor others
  • Provides timely communications to team members on significant issues or developments and promote open dialogue
  • Works on teams to lift up and support organizational initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 years experience in an engineering design position

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated expertise in turbomachinery and/or structural mechanical design
  • Significant experience in the design, testing, and certification of turbomachinery
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and principles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization and provide guidance to engineers with less experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems with a sense of urgency
