We are currently looking for Sheet Metal Mechanic for our facility in Sidney, BC. You will play a crucial role in the fabrication of components for aerospace applications. You will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, using specialized tools and machinery, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision in the assembly of sheet metal parts. Term: Permanent, Full-timeNOC: 72102Vacancies: 2Unionized position under Unifor Local 114 Duties & ResponsibilitiesInterpretation of Blueprints: Study and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand assembly requirements.Sheet Metal Fabrication: Utilize various hand tools, power tools, and machinery to cut, shape, and form sheet metal components according to specifications.Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of assembled components to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to aerospace industry standards.Precision Measurement: Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances, making adjustments as necessary.Material Handling: Safely handle and store sheet metal materials, ensuring proper organization and inventory control.Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the manufacturing team, including engineers and machinists, to achieve seamless integration of sheet metal components into larger assemblies.Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment. Education and Professional QualificationsCompletion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Skills & Experience2+ years of manufacturing, aerospace, warehousing or construction experience is considered an asset.At least 1 year of experience as a sheet metal worker is required.Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication machinery.Ability to interpret and understand drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following all safety guidelines.
