Structures Mechanic
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Structural Assembler for component assembly and sub-assemblies for an opportunity in Jacksonville, FL.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Aircraft Structural Mechanics are responsible for assembling, repairing, modifying, and fabricating structural components of the aircraft as well as training less experienced mechanics.
- Take lead on complex build-out of multiple aircraft assemblies and subassemblies.
- Read and understand work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation station sheets to determine sequence of operations, fastener type size and hole patterns.
- Align and build assemblies and subassemblies on large, complex manufacturing jigs and fixtures across multiple cells and programs.
- Drill, countersink, dimple, ream, chamfer holes on complex structural assemblies for a variety of different fasteners with minimal quality defects.
- Must effectively use all hand/power tools required, including portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner, torque wrenches, crimpers, cable tools and various other hand tools as necessary.
- Lead inspections and assessments, including inquiry and analysis of scrap damage, corrosion, or wear and tear of structures.
- Assist in urgent repair tasks and provide expertise in troubleshooting structural issues to ensure quality.
- Review engineering drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints to develop repair plans and procedures with cell leader, supervisor, and engineering team.
- Maintain designed tolerances, edge distance and pitch per engineering requirements.
- Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. Use check gauges to inspect holes and fastener tolerance.
- Apply sealants on structural components as such as fillet and fay seal as required per engineering.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisor and engineering to implement modifications and upgrades to improve performance and safety.
- Mentor and train assembly team on technique and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements:
- ITAR document required
- Five (5) or more years in a structural sheet metal assembly/mechanic role.
- Completion of Aviation Maintenance Professional or FAA-approved aviation technical certification, preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of aircraft systems, tools, and maintenance procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of Aviation Maintenance Professional or FAA-approved aviation technical certification, preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and peers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-pace, team-oriented work environment.
