Job Title: Structures Mechanic
Job DescriptionThis role focuses on heavy maintenance and structural repair on ATR turboprop aircraft in an MRO hangar environment. You will interpret task cards and blueprints, select appropriate tools, and perform precise structural repairs and installations, including participation in major modification work and C-checks across the fleet.
Responsibilities
- Receive task cards, review work scope, and interpret blueprints to determine repair or installation requirements.
- Identify and prepare the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete assigned structural tasks.
- Perform drilling, reaming, countersinking, and riveting operations to close tolerances on aircraft structures using sheet metal techniques.
- Install and remove standard and blind/pop rivets, including fasteners such as Hi-Loks, while maintaining structural integrity and quality standards.
- Carry out basic fabrication tasks, including cutting, shaping, and fitting sheet metal components for repair or modification.
- Fabricate and install stringers, doublers, and other structural reinforcements as required by engineering data and task cards.
- Perform corrosion control activities, including inspection, removal, treatment, and protection of affected structural areas.
- Conduct self-checks and quality checks on completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, blueprints, and regulatory requirements.
- Support heavy maintenance C-checks on ATR aircraft and contribute to ongoing fleet maintenance activities.
- Participate in the modification of ATR72-700 aircraft by performing assigned structural modification tasks as directed.
- Collaborate with internal mechanics and other team members to coordinate work on the heavy check line and modification line.
- Follow all safety procedures, shop practices, and MRO standards while working in the hangar and related work areas.
- Maintain and properly use a personal set of required tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and available for inspection.
- Complete required documentation and submit work for inspection in accordance with maintenance and quality control processes.
Essential Skills- At least 5 years of aircraft structural repair or fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in drilling, reaming, countersinking, and riveting sheet metal structures to close tolerances.
- Ability to perform sheet metal repair and fabrication while working from blueprints and task cards.
- Demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance, specifically in an MRO environment.
- Capability to pass a basic structures fabrication test involving securing metal plates with multiple rivet types.
- Strong understanding of aircraft structural components such as stringers and doublers and their installation.
- Experience with corrosion control practices on aircraft structures.
- Ability to perform precise work with standard and blind/pop rivets, including Hi-Loks.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly required for aircraft structural work.
- Ability to work effectively on second shift and adapt to potential minor schedule adjustments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience supporting heavy maintenance checks (such as C-checks) on regional or turboprop aircraft.
- Prior involvement in aircraft modification programs or major structural modification projects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality structural work.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed blueprints, engineering drawings, and task cards.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a hangar and shop environment.
- Willingness to pursue a long-term contract with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

Work Environment
You will work in an insulated hangar MRO facility where the hangar, shops, break room, and tool crib are all located within the same building, providing a convenient and cohesive work setting. The position operates on second shift, with 5-hour shifts Monday through Friday, currently scheduled from approximately 15:30 to 02:00, with the understanding that minor adjustments to the shift times may occur as this is a new shift. The environment involves hands-on structural work on ATR turboprop aircraft using a personal set of tools that must include, at minimum, a drill motor, countersink cage/microstop, rivet gun, rivet sets, 1/4" ratchet and sockets, grinder, machinists scale/rule, and clecos. The hangar setting supports year-round operations, with access to shops and support areas in close proximity to the aircraft.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.00 - $52.00/hr.
