Job Description
As a Structures Technician, you will engage in heavy depot-level structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications on T-38 aircraft. Your work will focus on aircraft skin and bulkhead upgrades, ensuring the aircrafts structural integrity is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and assess damage to aircraft structural components and develop appropriate repair/replacement procedures using applicable technical data.
- Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
- Design structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatments while maintaining original strength, weight, and contour.
- Perform post-repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders.
- Inspect components and repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
- Manufacture and use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
- Utilize advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
- Train on shop drawing and depot-level metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, and markings.
- Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
- Use automated maintenance systems to input, validate, and analyze data.
- Inspect, clear, and close completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
- Document maintenance according to Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
- Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials following environmental standards and company processes.
- Operate and maintain related aircraft Support Equipment (SE).
- Monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and manage time change databases using automated maintenance systems.
- Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
- Maintain strict tool control procedures, reporting any missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor, and regularly inventory and inspect tools, replacing worn or broken ones.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in airframe, aircraft sheet metal, and aircraft maintenance.
- Experience with structural mechanics, sheet metal repair, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Ability to handle aircraft modification and aircraft structures.
- Expertise in heavy depot level repairs or modifications and skin repairs/patches/changes.
- Familiarity with bulkheads, depot level operations, aircraft skin repair, corrosion control, and MRO.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Structural Tech Level III: 8-12 years of experience in depot level/MRO level structural repairs or modifications, with at least 7-8 years at the depot/MRO level. Fighter jet experience preferred but not required. Air Force Specialty Code 2A753 / 2A773 is a nice-to-have.
- Structures Mech Level II: 5-8 years of experience in depot level/MRO level structural repairs or modifications, with at least 5 years at the depot/MRO level. Fighter jet experience preferred but not required. Air Force Specialty Code 2A753 / 2A773 is a nice-to-have.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.21 - $47.09/hr.
