Job Title: TIG Welder – 1st Shift
Job Description
Join a highly specialized aviation maintenance and repair organization as a 1st shift TIG Welder, where you will perform precision welding on aircraft components in a regulated, quality-focused environment. You will contribute directly to the repair and overhaul of commercial, regional, and general aviation parts that meet strict international aviation standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium aircraft components in accordance with AWS D17.1 welding requirements.
- Weld on thin-gauge materials ranging from 0.025" to 0.090" thickness with consistent accuracy and structural integrity.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to complete welding assignments correctly.
- Set up, operate, and adjust TIG welding equipment to meet job specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct welds on aerospace components in compliance with FAA, EASA, CAAC, and CAAS approved repair processes.
- Inspect welds visually and dimensionally to ensure they meet internal quality standards and aviation regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with production and repair teams to ensure timely completion of work orders and resolve any weld-related issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop and aviation safety procedures.
- Participate in welding tests and qualifications, including TIG tests on 14-gauge (0.063 inch) aluminum materials, as required.
- Document work performed in accordance with established procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives within the repair shop.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience as a TIG welder, preferably working with precision or aerospace components.
- Proficiency in TIG welding that meets AWS D17.1 welding requirements on aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.
- Ability to weld on material thicknesses between 0.025" and 0.090" with high accuracy and repeatability.
- Demonstrated capability to pass a TIG welding test on 14-gauge (0.063 inch) aluminum material.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings for production and repair work.
- Strong understanding of aerospace or similar high-specification welding environments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing welds that meet stringent quality and regulatory standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in an aviation, aerospace, or MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) environment.
- Familiarity with FAA, EASA, CAAC, and CAAS regulatory frameworks for component repair and overhaul.
- Experience in production welding or repair welding on aluminum and other light alloys.
- Exposure to working with certified welding inspectors (CWI) or in environments where welds undergo rigorous inspection.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively within a multi-building repair station.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large aviation repair station consisting of 10 buildings dedicated to maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities. You will work in an air-conditioned and heated repair shop designed to support precision welding and component repair. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday hours as needed to meet production demands. The environment is structured, regulated, and safety-focused, with processes aligned to FAA, EASA, CAAC, and CAAS approvals and the use of TIG welding equipment and related tools suited for aerospace applications.
