Job Description The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct and support performance and functional tests on naval hardware, electronic boards, boxes, assemblies, sub systems, and sea-going products, during all phases of the hardware evolution process.
- Execute specific step by step test procedures to record & verify test data results and report out of tolerance conditions.
- Perform and assist in functional tests on, as well as monitor environmental testing parameters during Thermal Vacuum, Vibration, and EMI.
- Provide direct technical support to a team, as well as provide technical support during extended working hours, weekends, and holidays to meet critical schedules.
- Work in a development and production setting, where you will fabricate and build cables & wire harnesses and provide wiring harness installation on chassis frames and system test consoles derived from drawings and build documents.
- Provide technical support towards electrical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical test set-ups.
- Respond quickly to immediate tasks in their area of functional disciplines and develop cross functional skills.
- Electrical and mechanical tasks include, but no limited to, the following:
- Parts cleaning/materials preparation
- Mechanical /electrical assembly
- Polymerics processing
- Manual soldering
- Adhesive/bonding
- Masking
- Paint operations
- While executing manufacturing operations apply an advanced level of knowledge and skills in hardware assembly, troubleshooting and repair.
- Troubleshoot problems associated with the functionality or design of the products.
- Perform ring-out and certification tests of the products used in the work centers.
- Deliver work with a keen attention to cost and schedule and a consideration for the re-use and producibility.
- Work effectively in a team environment, referring questions and problems to area Lead or Supervisor.
- Provide direction to less experienced employees.
- Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- Document and record specialized test set-up configurations, to replicate consistent and repeatable test results.
- Apply touch labor skills in association with test facilities and associated equipment and tooling.
- Work with mechanical tooling and fixtures to fabricate and construct test set-up configurations.
- Apply solid computer skills to access and input data via computer interface or automated equipment.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
