Job Title: Welder (2nd Shift)
Job DescriptionThis role performs precision welding and fabrication of metal components using gas and arc welding processes in a manufacturing shop environment. The welder reads and interprets blueprints and routers, prepares and aligns parts for welding, and ensures all work meets customer specifications and quality standards while maintaining welding equipment through routine preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Weld metal parts together using gas welding and a variety of arc welding processes, including TIG welding.
- Perform related fabrication tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding to prepare or finish parts.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and build up or increase the size of metal components as required.
- Position, align, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products in preparation for welding.
- Measure and visually inspect parts to verify adherence to customer requirements and dimensional specifications.
- Read and interpret routers, blueprints, and sketches to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operating requirements.
- Inspect finished welded parts to ensure they meet customer quality and specification requirements.
- Perform required preventative maintenance on assigned welding equipment within specified time frames.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to confirm accuracy of work.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with welding equipment, cutting tools, and chemicals.
- Support continuous skills development by participating in on-the-job training related to welding and fabrication duties.
- Operate a forklift safely when needed to move materials and components within the shop.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality objectives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and maintenance needs.
Essential Skills- High school diploma or GED.
- 0–2 years of demonstrated welding experience for Level 1 Welder.
- 2–5 years of demonstrated welding experience for Level 2 Welder.
- 5 or more years of demonstrated welding experience for Level 3 Welder.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and blueprints in English.
- Proficiency in TIG welding and general welding and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to weld specific metals including Inconel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Ability to weld material thicknesses ranging from 0.032 to 0.090 inches.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers accurately.
- Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Capability to visually inspect and measure parts to verify conformance to customer requirements.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment according to defined schedules.
- Ability to drive and operate a forklift safely.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and to perform frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required by the job.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Vocational training in welding or metal fabrication is preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing shop environment.
- Familiarity with thermal cutting and grinding processes.
- Experience reading and working from routers, blueprints, and sketches.
- Attention to detail and commitment to meeting customer quality standards.
- Willingness to participate in continuous on-the-job training to enhance welding and fabrication skills.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment in a welding environment.
- Strong work ethic and reliability to support production schedules.
- Comfort working on a 2nd shift schedule from Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Flexibility to work overtime when available, understanding it is not guaranteed.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing shop environment on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with the possibility of overtime that is not guaranteed. You work with welding equipment, including gas and arc welding systems and TIG welding setups, as well as thermal cutting and grinding tools, measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, and forklifts for material handling. The physical demands include regularly talking, hearing, and using hands to handle and feel objects and tools, as well as frequently reaching with hands and arms, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. You must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. The environment may occasionally expose you to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, and the noise level is usually moderate. Safety procedures and appropriate protective equipment are an integral part of daily operations, and continuous training is provided to help you work safely and effectively.
