Job Title: TIG WelderPay Rate: $28.00/hr
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–3:30 PM
Every other Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Position SummaryThe TIG Welder is responsible for planning, laying out, and fabricating complex production and experimental metal parts and assemblies. This role requires strong TIG welding ability, blueprint interpretation, adherence to tolerance requirements, and the ability to work under limited supervision. The TIG Welder collaborates with multiple departments and may serve as a technical resource for others.
Essential Responsibilities- Plan and lay out work from raw materials to produce intricate production and experimental sheet‑metal parts and final assemblies.
- Operate a variety of equipment including shears, brakes, drills, sanders, degreasing baths, spray‑painting tools, silk‑screening equipment, manual mills, lathes, MIG/TIG welders, spot welders, and other fabrication tools.
- Interpret and follow standard work instructions, blueprints, sketches, charts, tables, formulas, verbal instructions, and electronic orders.
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with specified tolerances.
- Identify and troubleshoot straightforward issues within established processes.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts to provide or obtain information requiring explanation or interpretation.
- Serve as a resource for team members in areas of expertise.
- Work with limited supervision while following established procedures and guidelines.
Required Skills- Proficiency in TIG welding
- General fabrication experience
- Ability to operate an overhead crane
- Strong blueprint interpretation skills
Nice-to-Have Skills- Aluminum welding (preferred, but not required)
Weld Testing RequirementsCandidates must be able to perform:
- Standard joint uphill plate test
- 3G bi‑metal test
- D1.1 standard aluminum plate test
Work EnvironmentThis position involves the use of manual mills, lathes, welding systems, and various fabrication tools. Tasks are structured within established boundaries and processes, with a focus on safety, precision, and quality.
