Description
Job Summary:
Must plan, weld, and maintain tools and tool components. May be required to assist higher grade Welders.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs weld operations necessary to construct, maintain, and repair tools and tool components.
Works from drawings and specifications to fabricate tools and tool components.
Uses a wide variety of fabrication processes for completion or modification of tools and tooling details.
Requires the use of a variety of hand tools. Also requires the operation of manual machines including, but not limited to, band saws and drill presses.
Uses a variety of measuring instruments including but not limited to levels, tape measures, and protractors.
Performs deburring, blending, and grinding operations as required.
Responsible only for own work.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Must also have a vocational certificate/diploma related to welding, if without a minimum of 1 years’ experience. Uses advanced shop math, a variety of precision measuring instruments and interprets blueprints. Moderate computer skills required. Must successfully complete all required training courses.
Experience:
Requires a vocational certificate/diploma related to welding or a minimum of 1 years’ experience in welding, to include tig and mig welding.
Working Conditions:
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to fumes, sparks, dirt, arc rays and the wearing of face guards.
