Job Title: Fit & Finish Mechanic
Job DescriptionThe Fit & Finish Mechanic completes interior systems work on Q400 and ATR aircraft as part of heavy maintenance checks. This role focuses on removal, installation, refurbishment, and finishing of cabin components to ensure a high standard of safety, functionality, and appearance.
Responsibilities
- Complete all interior systems work in conjunction with heavy checks on Q400 and ATR aircraft.
- Remove and re-install floor boards in the aircraft cabin.
- Remove and re-install galleys and lavatories, including recovering or applying wallpaper when required.
- Remove and re-install all sidewall panels and recover them as necessary.
- Remove and re-install new flooring and carpet in galleys and the main cabin.
- Remove and re-install flight attendant seats and bulkheads.
- Perform seat removal and installation, including non-structural seat repairs.
- Remove and re-install overhead bins and ceiling panels.
- Replace cabin windows as needed.
- Refurbish and restore existing interior parts to serviceable condition.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation to perform interior work accurately.
- Troubleshoot interior mechanical and hydraulic-related issues within the scope of cabin systems.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable maintenance standards and safety procedures.
Essential Skills- 3–5 years of aircraft manufacturing or closely related aircraft interior experience.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting interior systems, including basic mechanical and hydraulic functions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated experience removing and installing aircraft interior components such as floor boards, galleys, lavatories, sidewall panels, seats, bulkheads, bins, and ceiling panels.
- Experience performing non-structural seat repairs.
- Experience replacing cabin windows and refurbishing interior parts.
- Strong attention to detail and quality in fit and finish work.
- Ability to follow maintenance procedures and safety guidelines in a hangar environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Previous experience working on Q400 and/or ATR aircraft interiors is an asset.
- Comfort working with interior finishing materials such as carpet, wall coverings, and panel coverings.
- Ability to work extended hours and overtime when required.
- Strong problem-solving skills for interior troubleshooting tasks.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with maintenance teams.

Work Environment
This role is based on the hangar floor at Winnipeg Airport, working directly on Q400 and ATR aircraft. Standard hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with additional work available on Saturdays for those who choose to work up to six days per week. The environment is an active maintenance hangar, requiring adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and readiness to work around aircraft, tools, and machinery. Work involves standing, bending, and working in confined cabin spaces while handling interior components and materials.
