Job Title: Wing Tank Sealer
Job Description
The Wing Tank Sealer performs specialized sealing, coating, and troubleshooting work on pressurized and unpressurized integral wing tanks, compartments, and aircraft structures. This role involves cleaning and preparing surfaces, applying sealants and interior coatings, checking for and correcting leaks, and performing testing and troubleshooting on pneumatic lines. The position requires strong blueprint reading skills, hands-on aircraft structural assembly experience, and the physical ability to work both inside confined wing bays and on exterior aircraft surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare surfaces of pressurized and unpressurized integral wing tanks, pressurized compartments, and related aircraft structures prior to sealing.
- Apply sealants using approved methods, ensuring proper coverage and adhesion on both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Hand-work sealant to remove bubbles, voids, and other imperfections to achieve an airtight and fluid-tight seal.
- Close tanks and compartments after sealing and perform leak checks in accordance with standard practices and procedures.
- Apply various types of interior coatings using brushes and/or spray guns, following specified application techniques and safety guidelines.
- Perform rework as required to prevent, identify, and correct leaks, ensuring all sealed areas meet quality and safety standards.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, production bulletins, task cards, and aircraft production plans to complete sealing and related tasks accurately.
- Perform testing, functional checks, and troubleshooting on pneumatic lines and associated systems for complete or partial installations.
- Repair non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to sealing, coating, and structural assembly work as required.
- Follow established curing and drying times for sealants and coatings, and verify that conditions meet specified requirements before proceeding.
- Work in both interior wing bays and exterior aircraft surfaces, including fitting into confined spaces within the wing structure to complete sealing tasks.
- Use and maintain basic mechanical tooling and personal tools in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and production standards within a manufacturing and unionized environment.
Essential Skills
- 3 to 5 years minimum experience in aircraft sealing work.
- Proven ability to perform both exterior and interior sealing on aircraft structures.
- Experience sealing inside confined wing bays and internal tank areas.
- Ability to read and interpret task cards, aircraft production plans, and blueprints.
- Hands-on aircraft structural assembly experience.
- Knowledge of curing and drying times for various sealants and coatings.
- Ability to perform testing, functional checks, and troubleshooting on pneumatic lines for complete or partial installations.
- Capability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including working in confined spaces and on aircraft structures.
- Proficiency in using basic mechanical tooling and personal hand tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exterior sealing experience on aircraft wings and structures is preferred.
- Experience with interior sealing and sealing outside of wing bays and wing areas.
- Familiarity with applying interior coatings using brushes and spray guns.
- Ability to follow production bulletins and standard operating procedures within an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Employees follow structured production plans, blueprints, and task cards, and are responsible for repairing non-conformance reports (NCRs) as needed.
