Education and Experience Requirements
Associate's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 7 years aircraft inspection experience to include 3 years GAC experience inspecting Gulfstream model operational aircraft. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred. Repairman certificate preferred. ASQ certificate (American Society for Quality) preferred.

Position Purpose:

Working in a leadership role, responsible for coordinating and reporting on the performance of Inspection Authorized Representatives (IAR) activities in support of type certification, aircraft certification or article certification activities to FAA/ODA requirements. Ensures all TIA activities are completed in support of TC and STC programs.test

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for the execution of FAA/ODA certification inspection activities to FAA/ODA approved procedures and ensures all associated records are properly completed. .
  2. Assigns work responsibilities to IARs based on their individual capabilities and authorized qualifications.
  3. Assigns team to work off-shifts as required. to support schedule requirements and enhance efficiencies as applicable. .
  4. Responsible for assigned Critical Path milestones. Drives/leads work tasks, maintains and reports status of all FAA conformity activities for new program development and FAA Project enhancement activity for legacy products. .
  5. Attends program development meetings and ensures new conformity requirements can be satisfied through existing methodology or supports the development of new processes to mitigate risk. .
  6. As an IAR, performs conformity inspections on aircraft and articles in support of certification programs.
  7. Performs inspections & certifies aircraft/components as airworthy and completes all appropriate FAA documentation.
  8. Works with and provides technical support to inspection personnel in supporting the FAA documented requirements.
  9. Improves work processes/performance to reduce quality defects, labor hours and cycle time. .
  10. Reviews and monitors open actions such as configuration changes, deviations and FAA unsatisfactory conditions.

Additional Functions:

  1. Works with, supports and instructs inspection personnel in techniques of inspection functions and other related duties of the area. .
  2. Leads 5S program and related continuous improvement programs. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. Proficient in blueprint reading, use/interpretation of maintenance manuals, CMP, ADTS, Travelers, Customer Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, test specifications and other inspection related documentation as required.
  2. Proficient knowledge of Quality Assurance system requirements.
  3. Must possess a verifiable working knowledge of the FAA regulations, directives and guidance pertinent to issuance of export airworthiness approvals & conformity determination as defined in FAA Order 8100.8 Appendix I and FAA Order 8100.
  4. Must be or have been qualified as a DMIR, DAR, ODAR or IAR.
