Boeing Defense, Space, and Security is seeking an AVT Senior Technician at our location in El Segundo, CA.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Determine method, layout, fabricate, assemble, install, align, troubleshoot, repair, and test space vehicles requiring the performance of electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic tasks, microwave components, devices, mechanisms, subsystems, and systems essential to preparation for flight test or launch, where specifications and design details are lacking and require interpretation.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work from preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, oral and written instructions. Interpret the most appropriate method to correlate design and method to meet laboratory and production requirements.
  • Plan methods and sequences of operations to layout, assemble, align, test, troubleshoot, and perform manufacturing operations for space vehicle electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical microwave antenna devices, controls, mechanisms, subsystem, and systems. 
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair microwave antenna components. Process metallic and non-metallic materials in the manufacture of microwave antenna reflectors and related composite antenna components. Perform detail composite part and reflector shell fabrication. Cut, orient, laminate, layup, and perform curing processes on composite parabolic and shaped reflectors.
  • Perform assembly and integration operations to precise tolerances requiring interpretation and application of experience to determine the most appropriate method to meet engineering requirements and specifications.
  • Operate specially designed equipment during space vehicle assembly, such as hydraulic test console, cooling system test console, alignment fixtures and unit installation fixtures.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and installs equipment in the space vehicle prior to testing. Prepare space vehicles for test by installing all component units; perform the complete system leak and pressure check of the total vehicle, and the alignment check of all control surfaces.
  • Prepare space vehicles for flight by installing explosives detonating cord, check the destruct mechanism for proper mechanical conditions; fill and check smoke generators for leaks; install batteries, skin covers, tracking flares, check a comparison of actual and calculated center of gravity values, complete final installation check, and insert igniters.
  • Develop and measure utilizing coordinate measurement systems and specially designed product line equipment to support development, manufacturing, and qualification of microwave antenna systems and components. Perform special test investigations, resolve minor design problems, enhance measurement consistency, effectiveness, and accuracy.
  • Assist engineers and research assistants in determining improved procedures and perform specific duties at assigned test stations. Record and reduce test data and prepare reports, charts, and graphs.
  • Acquire necessary certifications, with minimal supervision, perform incidental related duties, and rework of the same nature and level of difficulty. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of applicable material and process specifications. Provide instruction, direction, and/or assistance to personnel in same or other related classifications. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with mechanical principles are required.
  • Support range operations through tests, integration, and hardware moves. Operate computer controlled processing equipment for heated tools, ovens, positioners, alignment equipment, rolling stock, lift equipment, cranes, and hand and power tools.

This position is expected to be 100 percent onsite.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Aerospace

 

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience)

  • Experience in flight hardware.
  • Experience with electrical harness.
  • Experience with communication unit installation.

 

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary of Pay Range: $27.93/Hourly- $44.71/Hourly
