We are seeking a seasoned Operations Manager – Assembly to lead and oversee assembly production operations at a major aerospace manufacturing site in Victoria, BC. This leadership role is critical in ensuring the on-time delivery of assembled products to both internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining alignment with broader operational strategies and business goals.
As the Operations Manager – Assembly, you will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, methods, planning, and supply chain teams to optimize workflow, foster continuous improvement, and drive safety and performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Planning
- Lead and mentor production teams to meet daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets.
- Align production operations with short- and mid-term business objectives via actionable KPIs and plans.
- Foster a respectful, transparent, and safe work environment.
- Champion a safety-first culture with full compliance to health and safety protocols.
- Resolve operational issues and support risk mitigation strategies.
Operational Execution & Compliance
- Oversee daily assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Transport Canada, AS9100).
- Optimize site processes, staffing, and resource allocation to meet operational needs.
- Communicate risks, delays, and operational concerns to senior leadership promptly.
Performance Management & Development
- Track and act on KPIs that support broader business objectives.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support development across all team levels.
- Promote a strong team culture and support succession planning across production and operations.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Provide regular updates on progress, risk, and mitigation plans to leadership.
- Manage operational budgets and seek cost-effective solutions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and adopt emerging manufacturing techniques and technologies.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in aerospace or advanced manufacturing assembly environments.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence through planning, team development, and process improvement.
- Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
