Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of IT Solutions – Enterprise, Regions and Subsidiaries
This role is part of the Information Technology (IMT) Department under the Solution Centre, specifically within the People Solution Centre, who is dedicated to support our People Departments solutions including but not limited to onboarding, talent acquisition, and employee experience, streamlining processes and enhancing employee journeys through advanced technological solutions.
As the Application Manager, you will oversee full application lifecycles which streamline our employee experience by leveraging various innovative applications and tools. From ideation to deployment, you will play a pivotal role in delivering solutions that align with Cathay’s dedication to innovation and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for developing the IT investment plan, driving prioritization and overseeing the execution of the application roadmap to measure the health and cost-effectiveness of the application portfolio
- Collaborate with the architecture group to manage and exploit current technology, stay updated on industry trends, and identify opportunities to add value by leveraging new technologies and practices
- Establish and promote the right mix of practices (such as DevSecOps, CD/CI, Scrum etc.) to the team in order to improve the team efficiency and productivity
- Collaborate with business units and other stakeholders to improve data flow and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory policies
- Accountable for end-to-end solution delivery and support within your domain, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with policies and standard
- Collaborate across teams to understand business requirements, formulate cost-effective solutions, and provide oversight to the IT Application team
- Leverage emerging technologies and drive innovation to deliver competitive advantages to the Cathay Pacific
- Accountable for managing external service providers and product vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective systems development and support
- Develop, update, and manage application delivery budgets annually, ensuring accountability within agreed budgets
- Coach and mentor IT teammates with the IT best practice in solution delivery
Requirements
- A minimum of 12 years of IT experience with 2 years of management experience
- Tertiary qualifications
- Proven experience in managing a team of technology professionals (that include in-house, external, off-shore resources) to run strategic IT projects and support IT systems
- Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
- Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
- Solid experience in business analysis, software development and project management
- Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
