Job Description:

The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor is a key role that is responsible for assisting with the operational oversight of all flight training. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all aspects of flight training processes, safety of operations, quality of training and compliance with Part 141 regulations. The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor is a key member of our flight school and helps lead our team of CFIs. The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor will support the Chief Flight Instructor on the FAA-approved Part 141 training courses taught to students.

This role will report directly to the Chief Flight Instructor.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Flight Instructor with FAA requirements of the business to maintain full compliance of a FAA part 141 flight school.
  • Hold regular one-on-one instructor meetings for the CFIs to ensure proper communication, standardization and safe practices are maintained.
  • Train, and provide ongoing coaching to assure that all CFIs meet the standard of High Flight Academy provide customer satisfaction.
  • Help maintain staff of instructors required to meet the ever-changing business needs through both internal and external candidate recruitment. 
  • Complete competency checks with CFIs as necessary to assure they are meeting HF training standards and FAA regulations.
  • Perform stage checks and certify other instructors (stage check instructors) to perform stage checks so that all students receive stage checks in accordance with our training syllabus. 
  • Complete ride along with instructors and students and develop other checks and balances to ensure students are getting high quality training.
  • Assist with the development and revision of new and existing courses to meet the needs of our customers and changing regulations. 
  • Maintain accurate records in both software systems and hard copy files for both people and Aircraft.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workplace.
  • Work closely with ownership in a timely manner on the changing business needs and resources. 
  • Create and maintain documents of all critical business processes.
Job Requirements:
  • Must continually meet requirements of FAA Part §141.35 
  • Track record of safe airplane operations personally
  • Track record of safe operational oversight of airplane operations
  • Management experience includes team building, and delegation
  • Schedule flexibility
  • Well organized and ability to multitask
  • Effective Team Leadership
  • Possess critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • High level of drive and energy
  • Required Ratings: CFI, CFII, CFI Multi
