Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) for Cargo is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day cargo activities. This role requires ensuring safe, efficient, and timely handling of all cargo operations, including but not limited to aircraft loading/unloading, and coordination with other airport services. The AGM will work closely with the General Manager to implement policies and procedures, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.


The expected payrate for this job is $90/yearly. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.

Your activities

Operational Management:

    • Supervise and manage daily cargo operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety standards.
    • Coordinate with various airport services to ensure smooth and timely cargo processes.
    • Oversee the loading and unloading of aircraft, ensuring proper handling, and tracking of cargo.

Team Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cargo staff, including supervisors/managers and frontline employees.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement.

Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all cargo operations comply with relevant aviation safety regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as needed.
    • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices, integrating them into operational procedures.

Customer Service:

    • Maintain high standards of customer service, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
    • Work closely with airlines and other stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery.
    • Implement initiatives to improve airline satisfaction.

Financial Management:

    • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of operational expenses.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficient resource allocation.
    • Monitor and report on financial performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify areas for operational improvement and implement process enhancements.
    • Utilize data and analytics to monitor performance metrics and drive decision-making.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Your profile

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in business administration, Aviation Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cargo operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation safety regulations and cargo procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using cargo management software and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
