Key Responsibilities:As the Assistant Manager – Quality Assurance, you’ll be a key leader within United’s Technical Operations division, ensuring the highest levels of compliance, safety, and operational integrity. You will oversee a team of QA auditors, support regulatory audit execution, and help drive continuous improvement across all quality systems and processes. This role offers exceptional visibility and growth potential, with regular collaboration across departments and direct impact on United’s mission to lead the industry in excellence.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Monitor and ensure compliance of United’s off-wing maintenance activities with company policies and FAA/regulatory standards
Provide expert guidance to the QA team regarding policy interpretation and regulatory requirements
Oversee completion of administrative tasks and develop subject-matter expertise in departmental systems (e.g., SCEPTRE, QAAS)
Supervise QA auditors in the development and execution of scheduled and unscheduled audits, investigations, and special projects
Direct the audit planning process to ensure minimal operational disruption while maintaining safety and compliance
Conduct and support audit and investigative efforts as needed
Optimize scheduling and resource planning to enhance efficiency and reduce operational impact
Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to resolve audit findings and address inquiries
Lead or support initiatives aimed at improving QA processes and systems
Represent the QA team in cross-functional meetings and working groups
Perform additional duties as assigned
Travel 40-50 to domestic and international sites for on-site quality oversight
Note: This is a remote position with a 40 travel requirement. While the role is fully remote, we prefer candidates based near one of our hub locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Newark, or Washington D.C. (IAD)
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelors Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in quality role
In-depth understanding of aircraft maintenance systems and United Airlines policies/procedures
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Successful interview completion required
Reliable and punctual attendance is essential
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
CASE (Coordinated Agency for Supplier Evaluation) qualification
7+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 4 years in quality assurance
The base pay range for this role is $87,780.00 to $114,376.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
