Position Description:

• Supervises and coordinates all aviation life support system activities at assigned location. Provides leadership and management guidelines for all assigned personnel regarding their respective mission and training requirements. Monitors the accuracy and maintenance of aircrew life support equipment. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease cycle time and streamline work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. In addition, the candidate should possess the following requirements:

• Implements all current aviation life support program policies, instructions, and guidance established by required regulations, technical manuals and publications. The Supervisor oversees the program and personnel at his assigned airfield. The supervisor maintains open communication with organizations supporting aviation life support operations to ensure that aircrews receive the services and training required. The supervisor ensures the Army aircrew life support program objectives and standards are met, and a high state of aviation life support equipment readiness is maintained. The supervisor directs subordinate employees engaged in aviation life support equipment inspection, maintenance, issue, receipt, modification and repair. Determines and directs work assignment and flow or work projects including the use of procedures and standard practices as directed by management. Inspects subordinate employees work for quality, and quantity, and provides administrative control over production, time keeping, records keeping and reports. Performs internal self - assessments to ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with prescribed directives. Conducts aircrew continuation training. Conducts technician training as required ensuring competency in all assigned tasks.
• Provides leadership to personnel through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication. Aligns goals of the section with the managers, and company’s goals, policies, and strategies.
• Conducts meetings to ensure that personnel are well informed of changes in programs, policies, and procedures.
• Supervises, and coordinates aviation life support requirements as dictated by the Army.
• Coordinates with various airfield agencies to ensure proper support of the aviation life support function.
• Monitors performance of employees to ensure that policy directives, procedures and all customer requirements are being met.
• Supervises aviation life support equipment employees to assure timely completion of jobs and maintain quality workmanship to meet or surpass established standards.
• Plans parts and material supply requirements and coordinates their procurement with the supply unit.
• Enforces supply discipline and controls usage and care of government furnished parts, tools and equipment.
• Exercises control over inspection and maintenance of aviation life support equipment, forms and records. Initiates verbal or written reports as required.
• Coordinates flight schedules, work schedules, and job priorities to meet established requirements and timely completion of work assignments.
• Exercises surveillance over the activities of the unit to assure that safe work practices are being followed, safety hazards are identified, reported, and eliminated. In addition, proper emergency action is taken in the event of accident or injury and necessary investigations and reports of emergency situations are completed.
• Performs quality assurance checks of assigned employees work to ensure that all work is in accordance with the proper technical manuals, regulation and publications.
• Ensures that all employees understand and utilize all required technical manuals, regulations and publications when performing inspections on aviation life support equipment.
• Performs periodic inspections of facility, tools and shop equipment to insure proper care, security and utilization. Enforces good housekeeping practices.
• Maintains a current file of pertinent publications on the Company Portal.
• Researches, verifies, analyzes, organizes, and compiles, processes, to improve the aviation life support equipment operations at their assigned airfield. Resolves all discrepancies concerning accuracy and completeness of work at assigned airfields and if not resolved informs manager, aviation life support.

• Assures sufficient manpower, technical data, tools, and equipment are available for their operation.
• Formulates the budget for their aviation life support program to support their mission, and submits to the manager, aviation life support for review and inclusion in the overall aviation life support budget.
• Interprets directives, manuals, procedures, or other instructions affecting aircrew life support equipment to ensure that employees understand the intent of the manuals, or publications.
• Implements and enforces Company policies and procedures pertaining to the training, discipline of employees. Ensures that all employees possess the qualifications and certifications necessary to perform their jobs.
• Trains, develops, counsels and motivates subordinates; ensures management is kept abreast of all personnel-related hearings, investigations, and bargaining talks.
• Implements and enforces a sound and effective industrial, ground, and aviation safety program and a fully compliant environmental program at assigned location.
• Maintains a working relationship and act as a liaison with internal and external customers in order to maintain a high level of cooperation and service.
• Plays an active part in problem resolution, communicating plan to customers, and following up to ensure problems are resolved. Identifies and ensures customer requirements are met, and assesses and analyzes data to determine customer satisfaction.
• Ensures that policies are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
• Responsible for other tasks as related to this position as assigned by the ALSS Manager
• Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of section in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization, while lowering costs.
• Ensures summaries, analyses, and other data necessary to determine the quality of the aviation life support program and submits to the Manager, Aviation Life Support as directed. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS The incumbent must have as a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent. The incumbent must have successfully completed formal training conducted by the U.S. Army, U.S Air Force, or U.S. Navy Aviation Life Support Equipment. The incumbent must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in aviation life support equipment. Four or more years’ experience in supervising personnel is desirable. The incumbent must have successfully completed a U.S. Army, U.S Air Force or U.S. Navy Aviation Life Support Equipment course and must be thoroughly knowledgeable of applicable technical bulletins, technical manuals, pamphlets, and other applicable publications pertaining to the documentation of aircraft and equipment maintenance. The incumbent must possess management, leadership, and administrative ability with a broad knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Must have a good working knowledge of computer operating systems used in inspection documentation and retrieval of aviation life support equipment records and electronic publications. He or she must be able to read, write, speak and understand English and be able to follow written and oral instructions. The incumbent must have strong problem solving skills and have the ability to work with others to effect solutions to ordinary situations/problems. The incumbent must possess leadership and management skills and must be highly motivated and have a proven track record demonstrating adaptability to change and the ability to respond to challenges in a changing environment. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees throughout the organization. He or she must also be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers. The incumbent must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position and obtain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of problem solving techniques and have knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Management System. The incumbent must have excellent prioritization, organization, analytical and decision-making skills. He or she must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The incumbent must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
