Job Objective
 
The Assistant Aviation Site Manager (ASM) is responsible for assisting the Aviation Site Manager in the operational and administrative oversight of the bases assigned to them.
 
Essential Functions
  • Maintain qualifications and perform the duties and responsibilities of Pilot-In-Command, as required
  • Oversee all operational aspects of assigned aircraft and bases of operations
  • Comply with all directives and guidance of the Metro Aviation, Inc. General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Policy & Procedures, Company Bulletins, Federal Aviation Regulations and any other guidance/directives/regulations as applicable
  • Ensure the Regional Aviation Manager (RAM) and/or Director of Operations are notified of any interactions with the FAA, ATC, or abnormal interactions with the customer
  • Exercise operational control as it relates to scheduling or assigning a current, qualified crew as defined in the Metro Aviation, Inc. General Operations Manual
  • Serve as liaison between the Company and the customer to include attending to customer concerns/complaints and requests that are within the position’s scope of responsibility then immediately escalate all other customer concerns/complaints or requests to the Regional Aviation Manager
  • Coordination with:
    • assigned Lead Pilot(s) to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and Safety Management System processes
    • Regional Aviation Manager and Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician to provide a properly maintained and airworthy aircraft; Coordinating and communicating these activities to have the least impact on customer operations
    • Assistant Chief Pilot and Regional Aviation Manager as applicable to ensure compliance with the Metro Aviation, Inc. Approved Training Program; Coordinating and communicating these activities to have the least impact to customer operations
    • Metro Aviation, Inc. and the customer to ensure completion of medical crew and communication center personnel initial and recurrent training requirements.
    • Director of Safety and is responsible for the completion of safety audits, monthly safety meetings, PAIP drills, and overall safety of assigned bases
  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission of all required Company reports (i.e. monthly billing information, flight and duty records of pilots assigned, expense/work-over review and approvals, ASRs, or any other report as directed)
  • Ensure all base, aircraft and other Company documents are current in accordance with the Master Publications Sheet
  • Participate in base safety meetings, customer meetings, or other customer coordinated events; at all times within these meetings/events, the ASM will represent the safe operating practice of Metro Aviation, Inc.
  • Perform proper pre-flight inspection, servicing (fuel, oxygen, etc.) and confirm aircraft airworthiness
    • Maintenance airworthiness flights as needed
  • Assist the Regional Aviation Manager in pilot recruiting activities
  • Assigned personnel responsibilities to include:
    • Supervision in the performance of their duties
    • Conduct performance reviews
    • Participate in corrective action in coordination with the Director of Operations in accordance with all policies and procedures
*May delegate any function (by approval of the Director of Operations) but retains responsibility

Minimum Required Experience (Regulatory and CAMTS Requirements)

Must meet the minimum required experience for at least one of the following:

  • RW -
    • Total Flight Time 2,000 hours
    • Total Pilot-In-Command 1,000 hours PIC Rotorcraft
    • Cross Country Flight Time 500 hours
    • Night Flight Time 100 hours, including 50 hours night unaided
    • Instrument Flight Time 75 hours (50 in flight)
    • Turbine Time 500 hours
    • At least three (3) years experience in Part 135 operations
  • FW -
    • Total Time 2,500 hours (3,000 for Turbojet)
    • Total Pilot-in-Command Time 1,000 hours (1,500 for Turbojet)
    • Total Time in Type 50 hours
    • Total X/C Time 500 hours
    • Total Night Flight Time 100 hours
    • Total Instrument Time 75 hours (50 in flight)
    • At least three (3) years experience in Part 135 operations

Required Certificates

  • RW -
    • FAA Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft Certificate and Instrument Helicopter Rating (Airline Transport Pilot Rotorcraft Preferred)
    • FAA 2nd Class Medical (1st Class required at some locations)
    • Current Competency, Proficiency Check or Flight
    • Valid Driver’s License
  • FW -
    • FAA Commercial Pilot Airplane Certificate and Instrument rating
    • FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Preferred)
    • Current Competency, Proficiency Check or Flight Review
    • FAA 2nd Class Medical (1st Class for Turbojet PIC)
    • Valid Drivers Licence

  • Air Medical operations
  • Single Pilot IFR operations
  • Night Vision Goggle operations
  • Part 135 Management
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking
  • Ability to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting
  • Capable of lifting 40 pounds floor to bench height
  • Ability to hear and respond to routine aircraft noises
  • Maintain a "duty" weight (body weight + uniform/equipment helmet not included) if applicable per program
  • Ability to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit when requested
  • Require close and distant visual capability
  • Periodic hands to key ability (typing)
Work Environment
  • Temperature controlled office/rest quarters
  • Exposure to outdoor aircraft facility with potential cold and hot temperatures
  • Exposure to running aircraft
  • Exposure to refueling systems
Status & Work Schedule
  • Full Time
  • 260 work days / 2,080 hours per year to include:
    • 5 days on shift / 2 days off shift
    • 8 hour shift
  • Workover is available depending on the needs of the program
  • Travel to required annual training
