Job Description SummaryAs the Avionics Computing, Networking & Mission Systems General Manager you will have complete P&L authority for the Computing, Networking & Mission Systems (CNMS) business including both the Civil and Military portfolios. You will be responsible for delivering business results for a $150MM revenue generating using a lean operating system while deploying a clear strategic framework with measurable milestones for growth with a focus on proliferating our first-mover advantage in Open Systems and exploring the art of the possible for Mission Systems & Autonomy growth. Job Description

In your role as a strategy leader, you will:

  • Define and implement a commercial strategy that positions the business for 10 growth by ’26 and longer-term for a 7-8 5-year CAGR.
  • Build short-term and long-term plans to identify, prioritize and fund next generation technology that will drive market differentiation and value proposition with our civil and military customers to secure future growth.
  • Maintain an external perspective and use market intelligence to adapt in real-time, anticipating and evaluating risks and opportunities to implement strategies most effectively.
  • Shape customer, airframer and potential Department of Defense stakeholders on technology solutions and strategies for future platforms.
  • Be able to effectively architect and communicate strategic plans to ensure cross-functional alignment and buy-in is in place for the business to meet or exceed its goals.
  • Identify both organic and inorganic product positioning that may be required to drive growth.

In your role as a customer advocate, you will:

  • Manage and shape customer relationships to proactively position for market growth.
  • Apply a consultative approach to customer relationships; understand their process, be inquisitive and actively listen, identify customer needs and pain points and find solutions that will work for both sides.
  • Manage and maintain trusting relationships across our US and international customers at the airframe, integrator and Department of Defense levels.
  • Leverage customer relationships to better inform our market position and product development.
  • Shape and influence customer decision making, and the acquisition process based on our product differentiation to best meet their needs and increase our ability to win new business.

In your role as an operational leader, you will:

  • Lead and prioritize safety, quality, delivery and cost for production and NPI programs.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration, alignment and focus on critical issues across material planning, sourcing, supply chain, quality, and engineering.
  • Improve on-time delivery for production equipment and spares for key customers.
  • Improve delivery on NPI schedule milestones and cost expectations for development programs.
  • Drive 3-5 cost-out opportunities and improve working inventory by partnering with sourcing to define material strategies to leverage volume and reduce cost while engaging with engineering and manufacturing to increase producibility.

In your role as organizational leader, you will:

  • Attract and retain top talent and create an environment to foster employee engagement, with a focus on inclusion & diversity and professional development.
  • Coach and guide the team to be more collaborative and inclusive when working across both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coach the team on implementing lean behaviors of daily management, action plans and problem solving to drive meaningful impact in addressing operational, technical and programmatic issues.

Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, software engineering or computer science from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.

  Minimum 15 years of experience in Avionics or Avionic product development.

 This role is restricted to U.S. Citizens GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

 

Desired Characteristics

Ability to quickly obtain relevant security clearances.

   Demonstrated lean operational and transformational experience.

   Strong command of lean tools and methodologies.

   Prior experience in Avionics and new product introduction.

   Strong oral and written communication skills.

   Strong organizational leadership skills.

   Background in avionics systems integration, hardware, software development.

   Deep experience in life cycle development for high design assurance programs as a Product Manager or Engineering Manager for military and civil aircraft applications, demonstrated project management skills.

  Proven ability to negotiate and close large military and civil contracts.

  Independent, self-starter that can proactively manage a variety of external and internal stakeholders and achieve business growth.

   Ability to anticipate customer needs, understand their problem statements and utilize that to create a sound Strategy.

  Proven track record of being customer focused and experienced in communicating clearly and effectively through complicated negotiations and opposing viewpoints.

  Strong conflict resolution skills with demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

   Willingness and ability to physically work in an office space located in Grand Rapids, MI.

   Ability and willingness to travel frequently to customer location(s).
