SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Communications Center Director (CCD) is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and direction of the Apollo MedFlight Communications Center. The CCD reports to the Program Director. The CCD is responsible for ensuring that all communications center operations are conducted in a safe manner within regulatory compliance standards. The CCD is directly responsible for leading a department and workforce that is focused on superior customer service and efficient operations.
UNDERSTAND ESSENTIAL AND NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Performance Management
o Responsible for supporting Apollo MedFlight mission, goals, and growth objectives.
o Facilitates professional growth and development including the provision or in-service programming and an effective performance appraisal process.
o Demonstrates effective team building and leadership skills.
o Establishes day-to-day priorities and directs staff assignments.
o Creates forums for staff to engage in open and proactive two-way communication.
Recruitment and Staffing
o Coordinates resources to provide adequate staffing for the communication center.
Conflict Resolution
o Facilitates teams in problem solving and service innovation processes.
Operational Development
o Organizes, manages, and controls departmental functions and resources in a collaborative and participative manner for optimal performance and service.
o Manages communications infrastructure to include radio, phone systems, and FlightVector software and other applicable systems.
o Monitors and evaluates customer satisfaction with services.
o Collaboratively develops and implements programs to continuously enhance customer satisfaction withing the service in conjunction with senior service line management.
o Responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the communications center as they relate to goals and objectives set forth by Apollo MedFlight leadership.
o Communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in an ongoing, timely and accurate fashion.
Expense Management
o Responsible for implementation of department budget and monitoring of expenses.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree required. Two years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Valid state issued driver’s license.
Proficiency in the English language
Two years of experience as a communications specialist
Two years of supervisory experience
Certified Flight Communicator or within 30 days of hire
Must be willing to relocate to area where communications center is located.
Must be able to pass a federal background check and DOT pre-employment drug screen.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree preferred.
Greater than two years’ experience as a communications specialist
Greater than two years of supervisory experience
Licensure/Certification as an EMT, Paramedic, or RN
o Maintain certification through continuing education.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Inside, office environment.
The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk or workstation while performing tasks on a computer. Should be comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting.
The ability to type and use a keyboard extensively. Proficiency in typing and computer skills are essential for this role.
Frequently engage in verbal and written communication. Clear and effective communication skills are essential.
Must be able to read documents, computer screens, and other materials.
Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule when needed (evening/weekends) approximately < 15 of the year.
