Following the successful closing of our transaction with Spirit Aerosystems (subject to regulatory approvals), we are establishing a significant Commercial Aircraft presence in Belfast. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Communications Manager to be our local on-site expert and strategic focal point, shaping how we communicate this transition and our future.
As the Communications Manager in Belfast, you will be pivotal in establishing and running the Airbus communications footprint on-site. You will report to the Head of National Communications for the UK and work closely with the site leadership team, the UK-wide, and global communications teams.
Short-Term Goals:
Play a vital role in establishing the Communications function and outputs for Airbus in Belfast, bringing local needs into alignment with the established Airbus UK approach.
Support the creation of internal communications tools and channels to effectively onboard new colleagues and manage the change/transformation narrative.
Define and deliver key messaging and communication materials in collaboration with the wider team.
Interact with the UK and global communications and public affairs teams to ensure consistent messaging for all external audiences.
Long-Term Plan:
Consult with the business to manage a clear activity plan and define full communication strategies, ensuring activities align with business priorities and objectives.
Deliver communication activities, which may include: events, engagement activities, written articles, and the creation of photo/video/graphic assets.
Act as a Project Leader for large-scale communications initiatives, proactively managing multi-functional teams to meet agreed deadlines.
Act as a key liaison to support good relations with the local community, manage local neighbour communications, and ensure effective use of visitor facilities.
This role is highly collaborative, with interaction across multiple functions:
Belfast Site Leadership, Public Affairs, HR Business Partners, Union Representatives, and management teams.
The wider UK and global Commercial Aviation teams and UK trans-divisional external comms team
Local community representatives, local influencers, and industry associations
Essential Experience & Qualities:
Established experience across multiple disciplines, including Internal, External, and Community Relations.
Extensive experience in set-ups, building functions from scratch, or developing new communication structures in complex environments.
Significant experience navigating a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) communications environment and managing large-scale organizational change.
Must be resilient and self-sufficient, able to drive initiatives forward and thrive in a dynamic, establishment-phase environment.
Ability to think strategically while possessing the flexibility to act and implement quickly.
Understanding of the local UK media landscape and ability to effectively engage them, coupled with strong event management capability
