Deputy Program Manager
Kaman Air Vehicles is searching for a motivated Deputy Program Manager to join our team in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The individual in this role will work under the general direction of Program Management leadership. This position will be responsible to assist and/or stand in for the primary Program Manager in supporting the cost, schedule, and overall performance of assigned programs. They will work with employees assigned to the program from all departmental functional areas, ensure program contract line items are submitted on time, and ensure program requirements, expectations, and objectives are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the operator assurance program for Kaman helicopters.
- Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program problems and obtain solutions such as allocation of resources or changing contractual requirements.
- Where problems occur, determine root cause, impact and initiate corrective actions to resolve the issue.
- Establish and maintain effective communication between functional departments to maintain schedules and facilitate problem identification and resolution.
- Identify, prepare and implement cost reductions plans.
- Manage program data requirements, ensuring that all contract data requirements are submitted in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Provide metrics and trends for key parameters of the business for assigned programs to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Metrics will include such information as risk management, lean events, on time deliveries, program status, and budget performance.
- Establish and maintain programs files in accordance with company guidelines.
- Assist in the development and execution of program plans in accordance with an approved work break-down structure ("WBS"). Ability to develop a WBS and a project schedule using MS project in support of small to large scale proposals. Assist in the proactive management and communication program progress (milestones to inchstones) with the assigned integrated program team (IPT), functional management, KPP Leadership and customer leadership, as required.
- Assist in actively managing and balancing customer expectations with Kaman business needs to maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing Kaman risk. Ensure on-time completion of program management milestones such cost, schedule and scope in accordance with Program Management leadership expectations. Assist in the successful management of internal and external stakeholders to quickly execute program decisions, close action items and resolve issues in real-time.
- Assist in the development of operating budgets, Program financials, estimates at completion (EAC), Estimates to complete (ETC) and processing of internal long-lead funding requests (KISOs). Assist with internal and external program management reviews and /or technical interchange meetings with internal and external customers. Apply programmatic leadership and direction in accordance with all released program management processes and procedures, including IPT management, risk management and change control.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field required.
- 2 - 5 years of progressive experience leading teams, specifically in program, project, and/or project engineering experience.
- CAPM certification, or ability to obtain CAPM within 1st year.
- Ability to travel if required including internationally
- Ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
