DescriptionThe Global Procurement organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods and services and developing/managing relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Director – Fleet Asset Trading is a leader on United’s Global Sourcing/Procurement team, focusing on aircraft and engine surplus assets. Based on cross-functional operations analysis and asset valuations, this role recommends, negotiates, and executes transactions of surplus aircraft parts.
· Partner with key internal stakeholders (Technical Operations, Fleet Planning and Strategy, Corporate Finance, Fixed Asset Accounting and Network Planning) to advance efforts and meet the growth goals of United.
· Develop and execute a marketing plan for all aircraft and engine related assets identified as surplus to United’s operational needs.
· Complete aircraft and engine related asset valuations and appraisals used to support all proposed transactions (asset sales, purchases, used asset inductions) across all asset types (engines, airframes, & surplus parts).
· Make transaction recommendations based on asset valuations, analysis, and defense of conclusions.
· Negotiate and execute all required transaction documentation.
· Maximize the value of all aircraft and engine related assets through third party sales, asset exchanges, and consignments.
· Establish and manage relationships with lessors, MROs, brokers, and appraisers, throughout the industry, to support the responsibilities required of the role.
This position is Hybrid to Chicago

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
· Bachelors degree.
· 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 3+ years management experience.
· Extensive financial analysis skills including strategic planning, asset valuation, and sales forecasting.
· Proficient in the negotiation and contracting purchase and sale agreements; ability to influence others.
· Extensive transaction experience in aircraft and engine trading, leasing, and component asset management.
· Proven problem solving and analytical skills with ability to interpret and present results in concise logical manner.
· Ability to create & deliver exceptional executive presentations.
· Knowledge of accounting and financial statements.
· Ability to produce complex analysis on large data sets; excellent MS Excel and MS Access skills.
· Ability to work with cross-functional employee groups to identify creative approaches to achieve company profitability objectives.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
· Masters degree.
· 12+ years of airline experience specializing in aircraft evaluation, fleet planning or contract management and/or deal management leadership experience.
· Experience with engine and airframe component sales and consignment management.
· Extensive network of airline industry contacts with U.S. majors, lessors, MROs, & component brokers.
· Extensive knowledge of United network and fleet.
The base pay range for this role is $155,895.00 to $212,410.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
